Meet Kay Eye | Music Artist, Actor, & Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kay Eye and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kay, how do you think about risk?
The way my mind is set up to think about risks has always been extremely calculated. Like I always look at all sides of everything. The view that I have on risks as a whole is that they are necessary in order to move anything in life forward whether it be career, lifestyle, finances, relationships, etc. In my opinion, the opposite of risks is stagnation. For me, my entire lifestyle is risk based because I’ve never been satisfied with normality. I always wanted more out of life than what I saw around me on a day to day basis. At a very young age I was able to identify that if I wanted something different than what I was exposed to, then I had to figure out what it was that me or the people around me didn’t know. So, I studied. I sought out information and people who could lead me to higher levels, and at each level I had to jump into the unknown knowing that I could very well fall flat on my face, but I was cool with that as long as it didn’t kill me. I think my risk based mindset has worked wonders for my career because it’s forced me to go after the unknown at every step of the way. And that’s not just from observing others, but also visualizing a lane that’s unique to myself that I have to create because I see no other examples of it. For example, with me being a Music Artist, Actor, and Model, people told me all the time to just pick one. It took countless risks for me to pursue and become successful with all three up to this point, and I’m not even close to where I intend to end up with it. These days, it’s way more acceptable to be multitalented, but back when I started it was damn near unheard of, and people didn’t want to give the proper respect toward all of my crafts. Maybe cause it appeared that I was just trying shit out due to uncertainty, but no I always had a method to my madness. And the method was RISKS!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I feel like what sets me and my art apart from others is my versatility and range. There’s not many creatives that have done music, acting, and modeling at a high level. It’s not an easy tasks, so I definitely take a lot of pride in the fact that I’ve been able to maintain all three and continue to strive for new heights. As of lately, I’m extremely excited about my recent victories as well as my upcoming victories. Recently I landed two of my songs “out fuh Blood” & “Hades” on the NBA 2k22 soundtrack. I also just did a campaign for SheaMoisture Men and shot a film entitled “99 Problemz”. As for what’s next, you can catch me on Season 2 of Power Book IV: Force. New music of course. And more brand collaborations with modeling as well as modeling for my own clothing brand that is in the works.
Getting to his point in my career was some of the hardest “training” I’ve ever been through in my life. I really had to learn to just keep my head up and drown out the noise. The “how” was simply deciding what it was that I wanted out of life, then choosing to never accept no as an answer. Not even a no from myself. Just like everyone else who pursues big dreams, I’ve gone through doubt, fear, creative block, confusion , etc. But, once I adapted success as a value of mine, my emotions didn’t matter. I felt through them until they passed then it was back to the mission. The key was understanding that negative emotions are temporary, normal, and necessary for growth.
One thing that I want people to know and take away from my brand and story is SELF MASTERY. Choosing to study and master myself ultimately why I’m here and the driving force behind my will to keep going. Once you truly know yourself nothing can stop you unless you give it permission to.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely want to shoutout my parents, my team of course, and always my fans for keeping my art alive after it leaves me. The books “Think and Grow Rich” & “The Alchemist” have to get a shoutout from me as well.
