We had the good fortune of connecting with Chad Carrier and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chad, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I am a musician and songwriter. There is a lot of risks to be taken. It is an interesting journey in music. you have to take risks at most things you do in this business. You have to put together songs and other musicians to play music with you. It all starts with learning to play you have to show what you learned at some point. That is playing it to someone or group of people not knowing if they will like it. I started in room learning bass guitar and acoustic guitar then added a friend and eventually a full band. We started out playing cover songs at parties. Eventually we started writing our own songs it is more risk to play original songs. People are not familiar with them. As I improved at song writing my confidence improved. I eventually put a band together that got signed to a record label. Now more risk we now are recording an album that is expected to sell. We were also expected to play live on tour. It all worked out well we had several songs on KROQ, 91X KITS and other stations. We also had several videos on MTV and VH1. It doesn’t end there you have to keep following up. The record label went out of business and the band eventually broke up. It is always good to start fresh Wich I have done many times. I enjoy the challenges of being a musician. I always have risk at every turn. I write songs prepare for recording and prepare for live shows and recording. I have also written songs for some movies and TV. You don’t know if they will like it or if it has the right feel. For those of you wanting to be musicians just remember you will be judged by a lot of people and critics. It helps to focus on the creativity and accomplishments of finishing the projects. Pay more attention to the positive feedback and ignore the critics. I have spent my whole life writing recording and producing music and playing live concerts and don’t have any regrets. I have enjoyed sharing my story I you liked it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My latest projects are an album with my band Big Mess and an acoustic album. I just returned from a tour. I write lots of different songs. I write about true life adventures life’s challenges and some songs with humor. I write from the heart most of the time. I have overcome many challenges always having to move forward in my career. Never take no for an answer and don’t take the critics to seriously. I am proud of what i have accomplished and more is to come.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Rainbow and Oki Dog in Hollywood and Posers on Melrose, Doll Hutt to see some music in Anaheim. definitely the beach and Redond Pier for some churros. Also a day in the mountains.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
