Meet Ethan Schiff | Founder & Integrative Health Coach @ Optimized Health


We had the good fortune of connecting with Ethan Schiff and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ethan, what do you attribute your success to?
At Optimized Health, our goal is to be an alternative to the typical health, fitness and diet culture mentality that has plagued peoples’ relationship with food and their body for decades. Instead of quick-fix diet templates, the all-or-nothing mindset, selling supplements and chasing six-packs, we operate from a personalized, 1:1 perspective, one human at a time, and it has made a big difference in our success. We truly care, and do whatever it takes to make sure that every person in our community is seen, supported and successful, whatever that might look like to them.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We currently offer the most personalized, human approach to health, fitness and wellness that I have seen anywhere. I’ll explain it, but for context: at age 22 I was 312lbs. I had tried every diet program, and all of them failed. As a last ditch effort, I spent months rethinking everything I “knew” about health, creating a totally new approach to health and wellness then anything I had experienced in my life. Using myself as a test-run, I lost 130 pounds in a sustainable way. This transformed every part of my life (in many ways far beyond the scale!), and we now work to help change the lives of people all around the country, wherever they are on their health journey.
Specifically, we have a team of Integrative Health Coaches, offering 1:1, personalized weekly health coaching sessions to clients. Our health pillars we focus on include Nutrition, Movement, Stress, Sleep and Mindset. Every week, our clients receive a private 45-min session with their dedicated coach, plus a health plan for that specific week in their inbox following each session. Clients also have access to their coach via email and text between sessions for quick questions and to share wins. Our hands-on approach allows our health plans to factor in things like foods you (and your family) actually eat, your daily routines, work schedule, travel plans, social plans, weddings, happy hours, family dynamics and more, so that every single week your health plan is designed with your real life in mind. We’ve found this to be much more successful (and enjoyable!) than the traditional health company approach of designing a super restrictive program, and then telling people they either don’t have discipline or need to buy supplements from you to be successful.
Transparently, my biggest challenge as a business has been that people have negative associations with health/fitness/wellness companies – for good reason! With the limited attention spans we have today, the window for someone to understand the depth of our work is limited. But our clients see results, and tell their friends, and that is the best form of “marketing” we could ask for. We recently crossed our 100 client milestone, and we’re just getting started!


The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife Laura is the one who immediately jumps to mind. She supported me through every step of my own long and difficult but rewarding health journey, encouraged me, and still today is the support system behind everything I do!
