We had the good fortune of connecting with Nolan van Lith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nolan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been into playing piano & guitar. My older brother Tyler actually introduced me to Fl Studio when I was about 15 years old while he was home from college. I instantly got hooked and realized I could make music using what I already knew and was able to write Ideas down and keep them instead of remixing a song using just my piano haha. I’ve also always been motivated to share my ideas with the world and love hearing the feedback and giving people a piece of my mind otherwise hidden inside myself.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart from others is my ability to be free-thinking and really give a shot at any genre that comes to mind. I like to utilize new sounds and try new things constantly. I like to dive really deep into my sound to be able to let listeners feel what I feel.

Moving to LA, staying hyperfocused on my craft, and constantly trying to better myself is something I’m most proud of.

I think staying focused and realizing the sky is the limit and never backing down has got me to where I am now. I’m still working my way towards the top day by day and it’s important to realize things take time dedication and patience!

A few lessons I’ve learned over the years are to not be afraid and just go after what you want. Some people give great advice and some people give awful advice, it’s your choice what to listen to! Be willing to stay up till 5 am for weeks straight or longer!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I always bring my friends/family that come out to visit me on the typical Santa Monica tour and then head over into malibu to sit on the beach or walk around. it’s so visually inspiring over there. Also, going on hikes in malibu is to always fun!!

Korean BBQ is a must, so many amazing places out here. A few of my favorite bars and clubs would be Lock and Key in Koreatown and Acadamy LA to hang with friends and have some drinks on a night out!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although each person is truly just as special as the next, there isn’t one specific person. Shoutout to my family for letting me sit in my room and work on my craft and not forcing me into the norm for years and the people around me that put up with me looping 8 seconds of a song for hours at a time haha. Also, shout out to Matt Mcguire & Drew, and Alex of the chainsmokes for putting up with me spamming my music to them since I started until they had enough and wanted me to help with music production on their tours.
