Meet Jenna-mae White | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenna-mae White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenna-mae, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose to be an actor because truly there is nothing that brings me more joy. I have never experienced that moment of elation anywhere else. The thrill of escaping within a character and experiencing true emotion is profound.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I was born in Northampton, England and moved to LA when I was 18 to study acting at the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I remember seeing the list of alumni and knowing I had to follow in their footsteps. I don’t remember ever wanting to do anything other than perform for the rest of my life. In the UK I travelled around numerous places performing alongside so many talented individuals. I worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Frantic Assembly and National Theatre. Within this time I was truly taught by some of the best actors in the UK. I remember how long the audition processes were in the theatre world. Especially because I was only around 11 at the time, it was a lot of pressure. However I knew that my love of performing would carry me through and anxiety I had. I can honestly say doing 4 shows a week for 6 months was the happiest I’ve ever been! I hope I can get back to that soon. If I could say anything to young actors and creatives, I would say go anywhere and do anything that allows you to express yourself to perform in the way that you love and to meet like minded people who will be friends for life, supporting you every step of the way. I’m very excited to be starring in two new feature films in the next year! One will be a horror feature and the other will be a rom-com. Both with star-studded casts. It will be exciting to throw myself into these new projects and I can’t wait to see what people think of them when they are released onto streaming platforms!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles is now my second home and I know it always will be. A huge part of my heart belongs here now. I’ve experienced so many milestones here that a sense of familiarity will always linger. I love so many places here. I’m a big lover of food. When people come and visit Commissary Coffee in Burbank is always a firm favourite, Bea Bea’s in NoHo will mean you never have to eat again. I love shopping at Westfield’s Century City Mall and The Americana in Glendale. For something really cute, I would take them to 3000 Lake Canyon Drive for a picnic and a great view of the Hollywood sign!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my wonderful family back in the UK, who I miss every single day and wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for their continuous love and support. My extremely talented other half Benjamin South, who reminds me everyday why I’m here and motivates me to keep going! But also anyone who has ever had a hand in allowing me to have a creative outlet.
