We had the good fortune of connecting with Isiuwa Igodan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isiuwa, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I am the owner of Igodan Creative Studio (Isiuwa.com/studio). We are a branding and marketing studio providing companies, influencers and business owners with marketing tools, sophisticated and timeless designs to help reimagine how they speak to their audience.

My thought process behind starting my own business was my love for telling stories. I believe that everyone has a story and my purpose is to help tell and share their stories in any creative form that I can. And design and marketing has given me the space to create meaningful stories through each client and help them tailor a brand that is suitable to their mission, as well as the audience they hope to attain.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud of being able to get my clients from referrals and word of mouth. We’ve never been on social media until now and I have been able to grow my business with having such amazing clients.

I got to where I am today by practicing. I am a self taught designer. I didn’t go to school for web design or graphic design. I learned everything because of my interest to “create”. I googled and YouTube’d every single thing and I always stayed curious to want to learn more.

Starting my studio wasn’t an easy journey. I’ve had many moments of self doubt or just being extremely burnt out from my 9-5. I couldn’t pour love into my studio because I was simply being overworked at my day job. I had to refuel and regain my momentum on why I started the studio in the first place, and that’s what brought me back to really pushing my true passion.

Ive learned that balance and time management is key to growing a business. Because we all know that a 9-5 can suck you dry, which may allow you to put your dreams/passion to the side. But with great management skills, its possible to balance both without being burnt out.

I want people to know that I am extremely passionate about every single thing I create and I just love telling stories and producing great content. That is what I want to do for a very long time. I want people to be happy because of the production I put together, if that is through either web design, documentary, a campaign, etc.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sisters are my biggest supporters and cheerleaders. Without their love and guidance, I would be a little lost.

My core group of friends are truly a supportive bunch. And they deserve their flowers for holding me down and always rooting for me.
