Meet Eduardo Ramirez-Gonzalez, ADFC | Cinematographer

Hi Eduardo, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Quote The destruction of your ego, is the reconstruction of yourself
I always have this in mind, for me it is very important to keep my foot on the ground, and rebuild myself as a better human everyday, teaching with example and learning from my mistakes.
The Ego is the human drug, we have a big problem with ego and this can be seen in every aspect and moment of human nature, your ego brings up all the negativity and bad competitive feeling, someone said, give them an award and they will do anything for that.
is sad, really sad how the Human behave under these circumstances and the limitations of the human brain to fight it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others?
I will talk about my culture, my flavor, my heritage, how I was raised , the place where I grew up, and all my trips and experiences as a human.
I want to preserve art and artistry as much as I can, as an artist I want to break through and rebuild what has been forgotten. I always will bring something new to the table, I do have a unique spice that you will like.
The process is always hard, I believe in hard work and be honest, honest with yourself and with your pairs, from any angle.
The challenges never stop, everyday is a new challenge when you are a freelancer, you will always live on the edge, and you need to have a lot of strength to make this a lifestyle.
One of the major challenges that I took was moving to Los Angeles, coming to a new city + country and starting a life here with my wife and my incoming first son, moving here without knowing the city, the people and the industry,
I was starting from zero.
I learn that two are more powerful than one, that you need a person to support you in every step and take a leap of faith for you and with you, I learn to trust and I lear that all can change very fast.
I remember this as one of my best decisions ever, I reject the second season of a TV series ( Narcos 2) because my wife was pregnant from our first son, this are the facts, we were new on this town, we didn’t have any family or friends when we move here 7 years ago, and yes the money was going fast out of the account, but like my mother said god always take care…
passing on the project was the best decision I made, living every day of the pregnancy with her, and seeing my son born bring the best of me.
I never regret not going to shoot overseas for 7 months, because today, no one cares about a tv show, or movie that you did 7 years ago, but I will regret my entire life to lose those days, and lose the really important matters in life. a job is not more important than your family. As advice: You don’t want to miss some really important stuff.
I care how my kids will remember me, how my wife sees me, and how I see myself every morning.
but I want the world to know that I care about the planet, our home. As an artist and human I try to do as much I can to help.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I will take him/her to these places.
– the ocean – Matador – laguna.
– the mountains and lakes – lake Tahoe – big bear – shaver lake
– Yosemite
– The sequoias national park
– Joshua tree
– the Getty museum
– the Griffith observatory
– Watts tower

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have two major persons in my life that help me everyday and in every moment, my Mother and my Wife.
My mother teaches me that nothing is impossible, that we are very powerful from the moment we are born, she teaches me the will power and how I focus my energy, she is a strong and a very interesting woman, and I’m eternally grateful to her for always supporting me.
My Wife, the warrior, this woman is a very special type of human, I’m very blessed to found her on my path, we have a very unique connection and I learn from her to be a warrior, she help me understanding that life is far from work and that my best talent Is to be the best husband and father that I can be, have a balance in home helps a lot. I learn from her to care about others, to care about me, she holds our home with grace and she support this crazy life career.
I’m very grateful to have married her, she is my compass on this trip called life.
I have mentors and friends who helped a lot in this life until now, I can say we ended up moving to L.A thanks to the cinematographer and Academy winner Guillermo Navarro, ASC, he helped and opened the door to L.A.
Is impossible to name them all, but I’m very grateful to the Directors, producers, and crew that work with me, they are all amazing and they support me and encourage me to continue.
