Meet Poor Sport | Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Poor Sport and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Poor Sport, what principle do you value most?
Integrity is key in my opinion. One of the most beautiful things about life and art is that we’re all different. We each have slightly different perspectives and that makes the possibilities endless artistically speaking. Everyday someones is born who will have a unique experience that will shape how they see the world and subsequently how they express themselves artistically.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I do music that’s a derivative of Hip Hop, Pop, and R&B however, what sets me apart from others is my production style. I started off as an Electronic music artist but found that the music I was “trying” to make didn’t really speak to me. Once I let go and allowed myself to create outside of the confines of a genre, my sound really started to take shape and become something that is specific to me. Fast forward a bit and I now have 4 songs released and my first music video out. Getting to where I am in my career so far can all be attributed to personal persistence and the help friends and creatives alike. The most difficult part of getting any creative career off the ground, I think, is figuring out what your statement is, that is to say, who and what you create for and what ideals you want to convey. I’ve found that staying consistent and being constantly reflective has been the biggest factor in finding my voice. I hope to be an inspiration to other creatives and people in general, to go about art and life in a way that makes them feel the most fulfilled rather than what the current zeitgeist suggests is the “best way.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely eating at Samosa House in Santa Monica, hitting a skatepark, and then playing a set at a bar/venue in the evening. Rinse and repeat!
we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Friends and family hands down! I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am now without them, and I still have a long way to go.
