Meet Yamani Caliwara | Fashion Stylist, Designer, and Owner of HouseofYamani

We had the good fortune of connecting with Yamani Caliwara and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Yamani, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance; especially being a mother of two kids. There are times when you feel as though you need to stay late in order to get a task done or to meet a certain deadline. It’s inevitable, but they should not be the norm in my life or anyone’s life. I need time to switch off from work, so I enjoy fine dining, drinking my wine, or simply just being with my kids. I believe we should create a sense of balance between family and work.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe my designs sets me apart from everyone because the ideas come from me. I have my very own style in the fashion world just like how everyone has their own style. I am proud that I created a line where anyone can tell that is it from my brand “HouseofYamani”. Of course, the process wasn’t easy but with hard work and consistency, anyone can make it. I learned how to listen to my own instincts and not follow what people say to me. I want people to know that there is no limit to fashion and that being creative is not a bad thing and does not only limit the trends. You can make your own trends.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Belvedere, located at the Peninsula Beverly Hills. It has the most beautiful atmosphere that anyone can find themselves easily adapting to it. The food, wine list, customer service, and design of the restaurant are amazing. Since it’s located in Beverly Hills and walking distance from our place it’s easy to go about the place and perhaps visit Rodeo Drive after having a nice meal.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. I have always been exposed to the fashion industry since I was young and my family knows how far I’ve come from the very beginning.
