We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Arellano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leslie, what’s your definition for success?
As I’ve grown older my idea of what success means has truly changed. If you were to ask me a few years ago I would have probably given you some crazy large net worth and used that to associate success. Now however I define success completely different, to me it’s not what I can do for myself but how I can inspire other people to be there best versions of themselves. Success to me is leaving this world a better place than how I found it. Being able to connect and have meaningful experiences/ relationships with others, that to me is what life is all about. That is how I define success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my podcast and the social media content I love to create.

2Sense is podcast I do with my co-host Jasmine Mulero; it’s a platform and community we’ve created that we are extremely proud of. Before the pandemic hit we had decided we wanted to create an open space to have conversations; after a year of planning 2Sense was created. We pride ourselves in being truly authentic on the podcast; talking about everything from mental health to our crazy sex experiences + more! The first months of the podcast were definitely challenging, we had to learn how to block out our worries of what others might think and just go for it. We overcame our worries by focusing on all the amazing listeners that joined our 2Sense community. Along the way we learned the importance of consistency and how important it is to SHOW UP for yourself each and every day. We want the world to know that our 2Sense journey is only just beginning, we want our listeners to feel inspired after hearing an episode. We want people to know that if 2 girls from the valley can go after their dreams then so can they!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a HUGE coffee addict. I love visiting new coffee shops on the weekend so my ideal day would for sure start either at Tortoni in Sherman Oaks with a large iced Chagaccino or perhaps Coffee Dose if we’re closer to OC. I also can’t pass up a good opportunity to visit a local brewery, if my bestie was in town I’d probably take them bar hoping in the Arts District in Los Angeles after hitting up The Broad Museum (sounds sooo LA, I know). We’d use the electric scooters to mob through the city! Just as much as I love coffee your girls LOVES to eat. For dinner hands down we’d go to Midici for some Napoleon style pizza and I’d also bring my own bottle of wine to dinner. My ideal night out would be at whatever bar is bumping reggaeton (preferably Bad Bunny). We’d probably go to the Rum Bar in downtown; love the music selection and the cocktails are always so tasty. Sounds like the perfect weekend to me!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I always say I’ve been beyond blessed to have some pretty amazing people be apart of my life. My parents definitely deserve all the credit; my mother had me at a very young age and growing up I was always aware of the sacrifices both my parents had to make. I know it wasn’t easy but they did a pretty damn good job (if I do say so myself). The loving household I was raised in and the relationship I have with my parents allowed me the courage to believe in myself and my dreams. I watched my parents day in and day out work endlessly to provide for the family; I learned at a very young age that if I wanted anything in life I would have to go out and get it. Their constant support was the reason why I was the first in my family to go off to college. That in itself was such a profound experience in shaping who I am today.

During my time at CSUF I was able to study abroad, visit places beyond my wildest dreams and I also landed a very important internship at Power106 that I believe changed the course of my life forever.. During my time at Power106 I interned for Dj Felli Fel and quickly after graduating landed a job as his show producer. That moment in my life was filled with so many high’s and lows. I was challenged in many ways and faced with the question of “can I do this?” on a regular basis. My time with Felli was extremely valuable, he thought me how to preform at a higher caliber and although it wasn’t always easy I’m so grateful for that time. I now know that nothing great in life comes easy, and my time working for him taught me how to see value is the obstacles we may face. He gave me the opportunity to talk to the people of Los Angeles through the airwaves. Thank you Felli, because of your encouragement I know my voice and what I have to say matters.
