We had the good fortune of connecting with Marlon Princeton Townsend and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marlon Princeton, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Aretha Franklin spelled it out, R.E.S.P.E.C.T…It’s a two-fold principle. The world needs it and the world lacks it. Quantity or quality, either can supersede the other. Many people are great people of influence. The term great is indicative of a large amount of something. The term influence relates to how people are affected and the effects thereof. I’ve heard time and time again that people can, will, and usually remember how they were treated and the emotion(s) associated. Whether it be a quantity of good or bad. The choice starts individually. I choose to be a person of quantity and quality. I choose to be a person of great influence. I choose to be a person that affects people in a positive manner. I choose to be a person of respect.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work consists of assisting others with cultivating businesses and event planning. I oversee a range of elements such as legalities, public relations, social media, and entertainment. Each aspect, client, and endeavor are deemed a new project, a new opportunity, and a new chapter. Strategy and efficiency are key! Everything must make sense! Therefore, much of my time is dedicated to reading, research, and application. Throughout life I must say that I’ve learned a great deal. I started as a musician. Then, management opportunities came my way. My emotional intelligence came secondary to working in arenas like customer service and 911. I’ve learned how to stand strong in stressful situations, I’ve learned to multi-task, I’ve learned the art of numbers, I read a lot, and I’ve learned how to be creative and integral in all that I do. I paid attention and now I’m applying all of my experience to my own line of work. 1 of the greatest aspects is the people that I have met and continue to meet. Many I have the pleasure of working with. The art of staying in my own lane and delegating others for the remainder is in fact 1 of the most valuable lessons that i’ve learned along the way. I do what I’m good at and I let the experts deal the rest. At the end of the day the key is to stay focus on completing the task(s) integrally. Of course, there are roadblocks, detours, and bumps in the road. That’s all included in the process! Never underestimate the process. Learn from it. Apply. Grow. Reap! A good crop deals dirt and must endure a plethora of extremes! At the end of the day, I want people to know that I kept God 1st, I stayed the course, and they can do the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I grew up in Long Island, New York. Bodies of water, great food, and the city which is at most an hour away. In my opinion, it doesn’t get any better than that. Let’s consider and let the good times roll! For starters we’re having pasta, salad, and an ice cold beverage from Pizzatini which is located in the heart of Hempstead. We’ll probably grab some Dunkin/Baskin Robbins as well. Shortly after, we’re off to Freeport’s Nautical Mile. East Coast Band will most likely be performing somewhere along the strip. Afterwards, we’re fueling up the truck and we’re heading to NYC. I’ll be reaching out to a few more people to meet us! NYC, Lights to light up the night. Dallas BBQ (the sticky wings are pretty tasty). Also, in a place like NYC, it’s almost inevitable to bump into familiar faces or to meet some new ones to build and hang with. With week long consideration, let’s book a suite at 1 of Hilton’s top Hotels & Resorts. Throughout the week we can check out the latest fashion, musicals, shows, and even lounges. Hey, it’s the city that never sleeps and neither do I. When there’s 5 boroughs and this much to consider who needs sleep?

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Most know her as “Aunt Marge”. Like the stitching of one’s favorite blanket, she holds it altogether, even in the most challenging situations. She authors the book “It’s My Turn”. She is also responsible for the unique consideration as relates to the spelling of “MPT Enterpryze”. She birthed me and she raised me. I’d like to shoutout my Mom, Margie!
