We had the good fortune of connecting with Allauné Blegbo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allauné, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
My mentor OusmanE “Babson” Sy (choreographer of my dance crew Paradox-sal) used to say: be inspired by everybody to look like nobody else

I try to bring this idea with me in any project i am involved in.
When i work with artists like Madonna or Dua Lipa i am aware of the performance they did befor and the dance artists they worked with. I try to bring something special, close to who i am as a dancer on top of what they are looking for, for their performance.

I was inspired by a lot of artists that i worked with, for different reason. OusmanE “Babson” Sy and Madonna had in commun that they never stoped evoling throught their career in their expression of art by connecting and collaborating with artists around them.
This is an idea i want to keep with me and i want to find my own personal way of collaborating with artists.

I like the idea of knowing that you can make anything specifique to you if you know who came before you and take time to work on what you can bring that is different.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i am a dancer from france-europe and ivoiry coast-africa, living in los angeles-california. i trained in jazz, ballet, hip hop and house. i am most known for my house dance and floorwork freestyle.
through freestyle and improvisation i experimented mixing my contempoary technique with house dance.
i am proud to be reconised around the world for this experimentation

i had a long period of training in France taking classes, going to freestyle session and competing. it helped me sharpened my skil set and meet people. I was surouned by some of the best mentors in france and when i came to new york to studdie at the Alvin Ailey school i felt out of place surrounted by some of the best student in the states. the training and culture was different, it was realy hard for me but i knew i was learning and growing so much. I didn’t have the level of technique i wanted at the time but knew i could keep working to grow and I knew dance was an art you had to experience more than learn.
after that i worked with Wanted Posse, Paradox-sal, and experience woking in a dance company and batteling at the hightest level.
i then start working with Madonna and experiment performing on the biggest stage in the world
after that i decided to move to los angeles discovered the industry of commercial and worked with Accura, Honda, Nissan…and other recording artist like dua Lipa and khalid.

along the way i learned that everything is connected. who you are as a person have a big effect on the dancer you can become. the people you meet in your life can shape your carrer. what you express or creat as an artist can have a strong impact on people and shape the world.

i want the world to know my vision of dance. a vison that see dance as a precious thing. experiencing dance by training/taking class or coming to a show is being open to experiment life in a extraordinary way for a moment. that is why i want mu performances to be as unique as i can

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to dedicate this to Paradox-Sal a french collective of female dancers from around the world that after almost 10 years of collaboration keep inspiring and supporting me

Dance teachers deserves recognition as they can spark dreams and train you to accomplish them.
For me it was Stéphanie Delsart and Oumar “Barou” Sy (different as OusmanE “Babson” Sy that i mentioned also)
