We had the good fortune of connecting with Adaeze Nwanonyiri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adaeze, how do you think about risk?
Risk taking is extremely exhilarating because your skin is in the game. With every risk, there is reward. Taking risks have played an important in my life because I am forced to face with all possibilities, obstacles (positive and negative) to complete the task at hand. It also forces me to make decision in a split second which comes down to going with your instinct.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
LARS Restaurants Flips is a business that invest, buy, rebrand and offer consultation services. What sets us apart is that I am a first born Nigerian interior decorator that focuses on cultural restaurants. This allows the establishments to maintain it’s authenticity. I attended a network event in Malibu, where I met my business partner, Lenny Rosenberg. He recently purchased a restaurant in Southern California and brought up the fact that the aesthetics were depressing and uneventful. I filled him on my back ground on doing consultations and interior decorating in college dorms for my friends and associates while attending college.

We set up an appointment for me to take a look at the restaurant so I could give him the visual next steps. (also known as consulting)
When I came to the restaurant, the demographic was a lot different than what I expected. It was next to a college but the appearance did not make it look “cool” enough for the students to enter. Colors, fabrics and food items would be a crucial factor to enticing the college kids. Colors play a pivotal role in the way humans feel and think. Fabrics and clothing change thought patterns and healthy foods increase longevity in energy.

It was an easy task to get this point across because most business owners are open minded and want to be successful. Our biggest obstacle was changing the current customers (who not college kids) minds to be being much more three dimensional. We worked on marketing customers who had underlying health issues to review some of the healthier food items and show the benefits of consuming these items. Once the customers realized longevity and health were associated with the rebranding process, we were off to the races.

The lessons I learned along the way was do not assume anything and expect the unexpected. It also important for anyone to get ready and roll up their sleeves and get dirty in order to achieve success in any field that you are in.

I want the world to know that I do not take the word “no” and I always find a way to pivot accordingly. Lars Restaurant Flips would like to leave the final product better than how it started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit me, I would absolutely take them on a hiking trip to the Torrey Pines State Reserve. The scenery and energy is undeniably fantastic and gives any individual the most relaxing experience that San Diego has to offer. For breakfast, we would eat at Shorehouse Kitchen which is situated in the heart of La Jolla Shores. This would offer great drip coffee and outstanding muffins followed by surfing in the heart of the ocean.

For historic fun, I would take my pal to Old Town San Diego because this historical destination is within walking distance within restaurants, train stations, markets and the infamous McCoy House!

This museum has was originally built in 1969 and Sheriff James McCoy was the original resident. The home was created as a wedding gift to his wife, Winnifred. All of the archaeologist findings have been preserved for museum guests to view.

For dinner, we would dine at the trendy and tasty Casa Guadalaraja. This vibrant eatery boasts live mariachi music daily and indoor and outdoor seating so you will not miss a moment of action in the Old Town streets.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My business partner, Lenny Rosenberg. We are team that consult, buy and revamp restaurants. Once the restaurant is acquired, we then go into cost saving modes of how we can maximize and optimize prices pertaining to food and beverage. I am in charge of the interior. I start to go over colors and fabrics as this will present a certain image of the restaurants. It is about the customers coming into a scene of a movie and having a fabulous dining experience while at it.
