We had the good fortune of connecting with Ke’Shawn Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ke’Shawn, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Persistence.

No matter the downfalls, uprisings, uncertainty, and losses. you keep going. I come from a family of hustlers. My pops till this day still stresses to me that can’t is not in my vocabulary. My parents really been go getters they entire life and watching them inspired me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I rap I make music about my life/experiences and what I’ve been through and I turnt them into songs.I guess I feel I’m still discovering myself as an artist so i don’t know what sets me apart if I’m being honest. I’m just me kinfolk. to the fullest. I’m most proud of my album that I’ve been working on for awhile now. I don’t wanna give out too many details but it’s special. really special to me so I don’t wanna rush anything I wanna give an album you play front to back and can experience. Just giving you a part of me you know. I’m currently still working a day job and making my way. Eventually I would love to get to that level where my art is my way of making a living and with the lord’s blessing I’ll get there. It has not been easy at all. Can’t lie 2022 been a hell of a year for me. Sheesh lmaoo but I’m still here still growing still learning and for that I’m still grateful. Life is beautiful and I’m glad I can turn my experiences good or bad into something musically. I’m still overcoming challenges day to day but faith in God, in myself, in what I’m doing has been keeping me going. I’m determined to make this happen. Lessons I’ve learned lately is everyone can see the potential in me but if I don’t see or embrace it it’ll be wasted and I also showed myself that I could really do this. I did 2 shows at the pre roll in atx and that really opened my eyes to opportunities if I really step into it. Scared and all. What I want the word to know about my story is when you press play on my album when it comes out. Just want people to know that they are seen and heard. That God is love and you should come as you are not who people say you should be and that I know people who live their lives through music if my story can help someone than that is a blessing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well I’m from the south shawty! I come from a small town called copperas cove to be honest there isn’t much to do but I been going to this Chinese food spot since I was a kid called szechuan… bruh it’s so good. I would literally always get chicken lo mein and crab rangoon. imma simple man. I don’t be doing much either I’m at the Stu, going to hoop, or at work. I do be going to Austin a lot and it’s something I wanna transition to living there. Now if you in Austin I will always vouch on this cause it’s so far to me the best pizza I’ve had which is salvation pizza. I always go there whenever I can and I would love to travel and see this world and experience so much more!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost literally none of this is possible without God. The man I am today/growing into, my reason and my everything is and will always be God. I’m very human and God has walked with me through it all even when I ain’t think God was there. It’s why the music I make is so honest. Second, my family. My moms and pops for always diversifying my taste in music and playing every genre possible. My grandparents playing all the classics and dancing together. My 2 sisters Shaian who is the reason why I rap, My little sister Mia who is my world for real. We do just about everything together that’s really my twin.
My kinfolk man….all the homies at 1101 Recording, All the homies from Odachi/Regular Human. Any and everyone who believes in me, has helped me to move forward, posting and sharing my music. My apologies if I ain’t mention you, but trust you’re appreciated though. I ain’t got fans ya’ll kinfolk to me always.
