Meet Matt Jordan | Fashion Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Jordan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Matt, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my brand has taught me would be , to be yourself at all times even if you’re not as confident . It’s better to be your own uniqueness , instead of trying to mimic or be like someone else ,it’s what make you “YOU” it’ll help you grow.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Everyone has their own niche mine just so happens to be “hair flips “. It actually came on during one of my first photo shoots in LA. People always assumed I “hairflipped” just because I have long hair . That assumption used to get on my nerves because that was not me . At this particular photoshoot I remembered that feeling and turned it into action. Both the photographer and I were shocked because we got it in one take , that particular photo sparked something in me and I knew I can use my hair as an aesthetic for photos. I have seen others do it as well , but they are not “Matt jordan “ just like I am not them . Im a very animated individual and throughout the years I have been treated a tad different because of the locks but I used that as motivation in photo shoots . If someone said a guy shouldn’t do that or his hair is to “loud “ , I showed up a “speakerphone “ and was my true genuine self . I would tell the world it’s ok to be a little bit different and you are the best at being yourself . Laughter is always necessary . I’m the model world you have to overcome the people that try to bring you down. They can say your hairs too long or your too fat or models should be a certain way.. it was a long lesson for me because I’m super self critical and I was worried about always being spot on. Sometimes you got to sit down so you can see what’s going on around you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Im so spontaneous at times , and I hate planning but I do know quite a few special spots . We would definitely be in Whittier California.. it’s just 8 miles from LA. There is a lot of great places in Cali sure , but this city just hits different . There’ is good food from your mom and pop places like zumaya’s family owned Mexican restaurant or our local pho and roll eatery. The cool thing about Whittier is the views ! The canyons in Whittier are gorgeous , they go for miles and if you’re lucky you might find some hidden gems from the locals . Whittier is a focal point and is close to alot beaches . When I say close I mean 20-30 min give or take in . Lol we definitely hit up a secluded spot near ballast point and go to the pier in hermosa beach . This is just in a day! By sundown we d make it over to the 6th st bridge to walk it and see La in all its beauty . The architecture is amazing.. later we’d catch some cool vibes down at Venice beach and stick our feet in the water . You would think we’d call it a day but we’d go home and get ready and hit the local bars in Whittier or even “DTF “ aka down town Fullerton and mingle with the locals there ! After a night out we’d hit the norms at 2 am for some steak and eggs and call it a night .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It may sound cliché but my close friends and family . If it was not for my highly opinionated family members and animated friends I would not have had the drive and the fire underneath me , they kept me on my toes.
