We had the good fortune of connecting with Mary Keey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mary, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Absolutely. For the last ten years all I was thinking about, was success and reaching success with my music. Around the same time last year just when I finished my album digital me I had a big breakdown. I basically stopped everything I was doing and had to focus completely on my self. The next few months, I basically took those holidays. I never took all those years before. Now I’ve just started again to work on my music I’m getting my life back together. But always think we are careful to balance life and job between each other.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve recently separated myself from my previous producer I guess I always help myself back in thinking and somebody to tell me if something was good or not rather than deciding myself. I’m just beginning to discover what’s my style, and believing in myself that I actually can do all the producing recording and mixing myself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I think we will start Olten and I will show them around my hometown. We have this nice bar on the roof called sisieme. Which stands for sixth floor and they make very nice cocktails. Then go to Lucerne. We would visit the bridge is famous and read, take a stroll along the lake, and eventually with end up at the “Verkehrshaus”. It’s a sort of museum about allsorts transportation. It’s very interactive and I haven’t been there myself for years, but I always love to go there. Then we would take the train and cross the border to visit Milan. There are several places that you can see in the land. I am personally still exploring, but I do love the city very much. I’ve made a whole series on my travels there.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I guess there are many so… I have been reading a lot of books and listening to a lot of podcasts lately. One of my favourite podcasts at the moment is him and her as well as Qween Herbie’s podcast “House of Herbie”. They have been very inspiring to me lately.
