We had the good fortune of connecting with Gazal Kothari and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gazal, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I founded Hyperbole Accessories in 2014 in India (I had just got my degree in Jewelry Designing) I was looking for unique jewelry pieces which were contemporary in design, versatile when it came to styling them, handmade along with not being too heavy for the pocket. At that time, all I could find is cheaply made acrylic stone jewelry which were mass made, not sustainable. That was my aha moment to create a small line of jewelry that would have all of my ethos. Thats how I started with Hyperbole Accessories

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our work journey starts with an inspiration followed by experimentation. We are highly influenced by elements of nature, Indian culture & heritage, seasonal colours, and the most valued client feedback. Experimentation involves trial and error of designs, patterns and textures. We start with a silhouette and end with a beautiful piece of art. The goal is to produce designs with a contemporary soul and a traditional twist. We create unique jewelry pieces which are for all occasion – from daily wear to work wear, dainty jewellery to statement making and conversation starter pieces. We have it all. It has been 9 years since I started the brand, I am learning everyday. In these years we have managed to create a wonderful team who have helped us to grow sustainably.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I would like to thank as they have helped me and the brand at different stages. My husband and my parents without whom I would have never been able to take the brand where it is today and I would especially like to thank costume designer Salvador Perez who put us on the Hollywood Map. He included our jewelry in the series Never Have I Ever on Netflix and also gave us the opportunity to design jewelry for the leading actresses in the movie Hocus Pocus 2.
