We had the good fortune of connecting with Richard Hosack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richard, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I enjoy doing photography going places meeting people. So I figured if I can make some money while having fun, I should at least try it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The simple fact that most my friends use the photos I take of them on there, Instagram, Facebook or dating photos makes me so happy. The people I care about loving what I make for them. I mainly do photography if it’s fun or helping out a cause. The most difficult part of this is not stressing about them liking it or not because in the end, they always enjoy my work but that’s the biggest hurdle for myself is the fear they will hate it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If they never visited LA before, I’d first take them up along the coast and show them the Santa Monica pier. Then take them to Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle Annex for some ramen, and take him up to Griffith Observatory for sunset, sometime during the week, I would take them to Eagle rock to go to oysters. Maybe have a walk around the Rose Bowl. Take them to downtown LA and show them some of the movie locations and art museums.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The first person that got me started in photography was Allison Kranz. She was always so supportive and pushing me to be better and get out a do it. Second I would say Jay and Eden our two friends I’ve met and I help take photos for their Instagram. They have so many fun ideas.
