Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I set out my businesses to connect with the world in different ways. I love fashion, but my favorite go-to fashion is a T-shirt. A life-changing event put something in me to create words of healing and wisdom, not only for myself but for others who could relate. I created Humble Tees, LA as a go-to for comfortable t-shirts with quick wisdom & quotes, familiar and created. Of course, everyone thinks of running a business, the go-to is a clothing line, and usually t-shirts. The difference between my shirts? You were changing someone’s life without even knowing it. How often do you read or hear a quote so good that you apply it immediately to your life? How many times have you indirectly been encouraged by a quote you read or heard? The t-shirts produced serve as little reminders for you as you get ready to represent yourself for the day.
This brings me to my next business. The opportunity to change someone’s life with fashion and kind words was a great start, but then the opportunity to change someone’s life financially while exuding the same substance was an opportunity I could not miss! In March 2022, I joined Primerica and added becoming a licensed life insurance entrepreneur opening my own franchise with them to my portfolio. They gave me the opportunity to not only learn what it means to properly educate and protect families with the right life insurance but also gave me the opportunity to teach the people in my community what it means for them and how they can acquire ownership of the knowledge given. Being able to teach financial literacy and ownership, by showing how to increase your worth and how it can create generational wealth has been quite rewarding so far. The only challenge to this business is fighting to change the misinformation people have. I thought I knew about life insurance and ownership, not knowing at the time when I created my business, I had no life insurance and if something would have happened to me within the time I opened my business up until I got a policy with Primerica, my businesses would have been nothing but a distant memory. Then having my daughter in 2021 showed me full circle what it meant to protect what I own, and create a foundation for what I will own. Everything I do has always had a purpose but joining Primerica, showed me who and what that purpose was for, my daughter. When she is of age she will understand the path and legacy I have created for her, and it is my absolute pleasure to help others do the same.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As an L.A. native, anything by the water is going to be a great time. I usually enjoy visiting different restaurants with great drinks along the coast, because what’s better than a meal with a view? So if you’re visiting, more than likely time will be spent at or near the beach where you can unwind and have the most fun. Boat rides from San Pedro, the Marina, or Long Beach and bike rides are always fun.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My businesses were designed to teach and spread wisdom ultimately through fashion subconsciously. Throughout the process of growing my business, I discovered a deeper purpose for what I wanted from my business: to spread awareness. The impact of what I do changes the most complex lives with simplicity. I’ve told my story previously from the point of view I was in at that time. Growing since then has helped me realize that there is so much more to my story and why the businesses I chose to go into are helping me tell it. I added financial literacy to my business so I can learn how to educate the people in my community as well as my customers. The community I grew up in has always relied on little to no information about what proper financial literacy is. If there are some instances where it was taught it is widely gatekept and ignored because how of the information was valued. My business now helps other people create a way to change their future. I teach people how to change their net worth and family net worth with a life insurance policy and show them how it creates generational wealth. I teach people how their communities can effectively be resourceful with each family purchasing & understanding that the cash they are purchasing will build a legacy. I also show the community how to effectively turn this into a business. Creating ownership through affordable franchising because the mission is to educate and properly protect each family from financial losses while dealing with the loss of a loved one. Being able to set people up for ownership in something that provides & protects continuously impacts their lives daily. What once wasn’t attainable is now on the horizon because of an opportunity that thrives on seeing the ordinary turn extraordinary.
