We had the good fortune of connecting with Kimmy Seltzer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kimmy, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the reasons why I’m so passionate about what I do is that it comes from my own story and transformation. It’s important to have passion and purpose first and success will follow. Many people have given me advice about getting more specific and narrow with my brand but it never felt right. My brand is the fact that I’m NOT narrow and that I use a holistic approach in helping women and men attract what they want by focusing on their style, emotional and social intelligence. I have been told that is one of the reasons they like working with me is that I have a vat of knowledge being a therapist, dating coach, matchmaker and image consultant and don’t just focus on one thing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So much of life is impacted by outward appearances. Decisions are made, judgments are formed, relationships shift, lives are altered–all by what we perceive on the outside. What we see becomes what we inadvertently believe.

Most often, our mindset dictates how we show up, whether in relationships or in our own personal pursuits. If we are not in the right frame of mind, our actions and demeanor reflect that. Especially when it comes to social settings, we don’t dress the part until we feel ready, aligned and have fully embraced our confidence.

For more than a decade, as a licensed therapist, I taught individuals to work on themselves from the inside out. But then I experienced a personal transformation that flipped that script and changed the way I help people today. Years ago, as a young mom of two during the time I was a traditional therapist, I was blindsided by divorce. There was a period of time where I literally couldn’t get out of bed, let alone out of my own way. I wore enormous oversized maternity clothes and did everything I could to not be seen. Until one day, I woke up and looked in the mirror, and I was horrified by what I saw. Before me was a sad, frumpy mom who couldn’t get out of her own way. And here I was a therapist…I should know better. I had a ton of counseling myself, a great support system but I still felt stuck. Inside out…hogwash! I was standing completely still in analysis paralysis. I needed movement. I needed action. Deciding it was time for a change, I went shopping and was encouraged to try on something completely out of my comfort zone…a red dress that looked like it was three sizes too small. But the personal shopper assured me that it was my color and it was my size. So I tried it on like Cinderella, twirled around and looked in the mirror and bam. This was what I call my “red dress moment” where everything shifted for me. Seeing myself dressed that way–in clothing that actually fit my body and in a color that was to be seen. This was me. But I had to see it in order to believe it to create action and build my confidence.

And after years of working with women and men from all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs, what I learned is that confidence is gained faster when you approach it from the outside in. How you are showing up externally can literally shift how you view yourself, and in turn, how others view you. I believe confidence is at the core of achieving our desires through experience and action. It’s the gateway to love, prosperity and ultimately, happiness. Through my products, programs and coaching, I help people build confidence from the outside in–to find the love of their life, to conquer their social fears, to finally love themselves. And from that framework, I help people with my unique Charisma Quotient formula, implementing targeted style, emotional and social intelligence to people’s lives.

I help high achieving singles create authentic dating strategies so they can increase their confidence and become irresistibly magnetic to attract the love they deserve. I’m a therapist, dating coach and makeover expert who helps people transform their style, build confidence and find love from the outside in using my Charisma Quotient Formula. In this formula, I raise people’s Style, Emotional, and Social IQ. I specialize working on body language, first impressions, image and messaging and how it impacts attraction. I offer Virtual Makeovers, Phone Coaching Programs, Style Sessions, Retreats and Flirt Workshops online and off. What makes me unique is that I combine therapy, coaching and image consulting to give a holistic approach in helping people achieve success and start from the outside before doing the inner work. I think it’s super important to pay attention to how people market themselves upon first impression which has a direct correlation into self-esteem, confidence and image they portray. I consider myself more of an authentic dating strategist and confidence therapist these days because I believe that people need more than just talking and analyzing. They need an action plan and strategies to break old habits and patterns.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love LA. Being from Chicago, it has been so fun exploring a new environment with so much to offer. What makes LA so interesting is the diversity each town brings from the pier and beaches in Santa Monica to the fine dinning in West Hollywood all the way to the quaint upscale spots in Malibu. Whether you like seafood, sushi, Mexican, Thai, Steakhouses or American cuisine, LA has a restaurant for you. And of course because you have great weather almost all year round you can visit outdoor places at any time. A few of my favorite hot spots are Rosenthal Winery in Malibu, Zuma Beach, Melrose for shopping, the original Farmer’s Market at The Grove, hiking at Los Leones trail and ending with a great glass of wine and dinner at Shutters Hotel.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate my success to all of the people who have supported my journey including friends, family and of course mentors in the business and love industry. I don’t want to single one person out as I feel every person has helped shape me and my business in some way.
