We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Alan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, what do you attribute your success to?
Consistency in quality, character, and community. I consider it incredibly important to be someone others can count on to come through on their project and to be just as passionate about its success as they are. It takes a large amount of trust to bring people onto a team and, as much as it relies on me, I will ensure that a client’s dreams are realized.

I also aim to be someone who is relaxing to work with, as well as to surround myself with others who are the same. We’ve all worked with professionals who, while successful and extremely talented, are not a joy to interact with and may bring down the atmosphere on a set or other team project. Let’s be honest, we all have bad days and MUST show ourselves compassion and understanding, but the extent to which you let your mood affect others is up to you.

Nothing happens in a vacuum and I am dependent and eternally grateful to those in my crew of friends who consistently bring me onto projects and also are vital, encouraging, tireless champions on my own. Surround yourself with driven, compassionate people, and lift each other up together!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I recently had a conversation with a friend I teamed up with to provide graphics for her online class (check out How To *Actually* Sell a TV Show, Organically at sellashow.com) and she asked how I would describe myself. I replied “A Creative Doula”. While not a mother (of anyone other than my pet parrotlet, Eloise), I have a deep mothering nature in me – I love to cook for and tend to my friends in all of their stages of life – and if you ever need a ruthless cleaning of your home, I’m your woman! I find that this expands into my creative endeavors, I want to nurture artists in their artistry, whether it’s a listening ear, encouragement, point-blank honesty, and of course, design ideas and completion. I LOVE celebrating alongside others and it is my aim to continually be a resource to those in my circle of creatives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Breakfast – Just What I Kneaded, a delectable vegan bakery in Frogtown, or AllDayBaby in Silverlake Mid Morning Coffee – Kindness & Mischief, a fantastic coffee shop in Highland Park with a WOC Coffee Roaster and Owner
Lunch – Homestate Tacos, Highland Park, or Silverlake (their homemade flour tortillas are amazing even on their own!)
Snacks – Berry Bowl on York for an Acai Bowl or Smoothie
Dinner – La Pergoletta (Los Feliz or Silverlake) for cozy Italian fare or Joy on York – amazing Thaiwainese (DanDan noodles are my favorite)
Drinks – Good Housekeeping in Highland Park
