We had the good fortune of connecting with Shreyans Zaveri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shreyans, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born and grew up in Mumbai, India. I grew up in a big family environment. Surrounded by a lot of love and support. So for me that aspect just came naturally. Being a part of a team and building a team is something I do naturally. I cannot understand or conform to corporate structures. For me it’s always smaller closely knit teams. I feel like this quality has really helped me to make friends, build a network and work closely with amazing teammates.
The other quality is resilience and resourcefulness. Growing up with a very loving yet structured way of life, being resourceful comes naturally to me. If one needs endless resources to build something, one cannot build the best. When a team, business, product or idea comes to fruition with the bare minimum, that is when it makes sense. There is no question of compromise on quality but the quality comes from the idea and the vision. The execution comes from a point of being resourceful and resilient.
All of this I owe to my family and the upbringing that they gave me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is deeply inspired by my love for philosophy. I just love questions like ‘Who am I?’ ‘Where are we from?’ ‘Where do we go from here?’ My family is also deeply inclined towards the love of philosophy. I get that side of me from them. And my art is steeped in the same. I like to delve deeper into my stories, my visual creations and when I am creating my characters.
I feel like the very basic difference I see in my art that sets me apart is the depth of the story and their characters. Nothing in life is superficial, everything is connected deeply and there is a sense of energy that I try to bring forth in my art.
I started dabbling in photography and writing stories since I was a kid. From there I took up professional work in the gaming industry where I worked as a 3D modeler and animator. The career took me towards production and visual effects from there. It has been a steep uphill climb and definitely not an easy one.
My brand and my story stands for responsibility, integrity and sustainability. I want to tell responsible stories and I want to tell them sustainably. As mentioned earlier, one has to be resourceful with their vision and creations.
Along the way, I have learned that honesty and staying true to oneself goes a long way. That these qualities just show up in your work and in your work ethic. Be honest, know your values, bring those values to your work and then let it shine.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That is a wrong question for someone like me. I am a very private person and I spend time very differently. If my best friend were to visit, I would just chill and soak in some amazing conversations. A cup of coffee, a log walk, a long drive, some jam sessions on the guitar and such activities would be something that I’d do. I spend my time in nature, visiting monasteries, visiting monks and talking to them, understanding life and the true nature of who we are.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and my friends. I have had a solid support system in my life that I am grateful for. I am also grateful for the rich culture that I come from. It has definitely shaped me, my thoughts and my life. There are some people who stood by me rock solid and then there are some who left. I am grateful for both these experiences.
Overall my family and my friends, they are the reason I am where I am.
