We had the good fortune of connecting with Heriberto Rubalcava and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Heriberto, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Our journey into entrepreneurship began organically, driven by our shared passion for creating unique designs for t-shirts. Initially, it was just a hobby, but over the course of six years, our love for designing evolved into something more. As we ventured into expanding our offerings to include stickers, pins, and prints, we realized the immense joy and fulfillment we derived from our work. This realization fueled our commitment to transforming our passion into a full-fledged business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our art is a fusion of contemporary designs with a strong emphasis on our Mexican heritage. We take pride in infusing traditional elements with a modern twist, allowing our creations to stand out in a unique way.

Witnessing the evolution of our art and continuously pushing the boundaries of our creativity fills us with immense pride and excitement. It fuels our anticipation for what we create next and keeps us motivated to explore new dimensions of execution and artistic direction.

My professional journey began with a clear inclination towards art, particularly caricatures, which steered me towards pursuing a degree in Graphic Design from Cal State Northridge. After graduation, I gained valuable experience working for a Hispanic Marketing Agency, a Branding Firm, and Corporate Marketing. However, as the years went by, I felt a strong urge to take control of my own destiny and pursue my passion independently.

Undoubtedly, the path to success is riddled with challenges, but when you genuinely love what you do and possess the necessary skills, the journey becomes easier, and the struggles become worthwhile. Overcoming obstacles has involved continuously learning new software, mastering budget management, and steering our brand in the right direction. We often step back to evaluate our operations and make necessary adjustments if something isn’t working as expected.

If there’s one message we want to share with the world about our brand and its story, it is to wholeheartedly pursue your dreams, remain true to yourself, and commit to your passions. We believe that by staying dedicated and authentic, one can navigate through challenges and ultimately find success in their chosen path.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: We would kick off their visit in Oxnard, where we’d indulge in some mouthwatering tacos at renowned spots like House of Tacos, Tacos el Diablo, or Tacos La Bonita. Afterwards head over to 1901 speakeasy at Heritage Square for some old fashions.

Day 2: We’d take a drive to Los Angeles and visit our friend’s shop, The Mighty Luchador, where we’d grab some Lucha Libre merchandise. To fuel up, we’d make a stop at ‘La Monarca’ for delicious cafe de olla (traditional Mexican coffee) and pan dulce (sweet bread).

Day 3: A visit to the Cheech Museum would be in order. Here, we could explore the captivating works of Chicano artists, immersing ourselves in their art and drawing inspiration.

Day 4: To satisfy our taste buds once again, we’d head to Trejos Tacos for some mouthwatering tacos. We’d pair them with a refreshing cold beer to enhance the culinary experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to our family and friends, who have been unwavering pillars of support throughout this thrilling adventure. Their constant encouragement and belief in our vision have been instrumental in our success. Every time we launch a new product or organize an event, they are the first ones cheering us on, lending their support without hesitation. It is thanks to their unwavering presence and encouragement that we have reached where we are today.
