We had the good fortune of connecting with Steve Arnold and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Steve, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business is to one day have control of my time. I want to be more available for my family. Working 9-5 job is reliable and comfortable until they decide they want to go in another direction. I want to hold that power in my own hands and creating my own business is a great way to do that.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am proud to say that I am a Pharmacist in Cleveland, OH. I love what I do and I enjoy helping others in the city. I currently work for a clinic that serves the underserved in our community and it feels good to be apart of that.
While I was in Pharmacy school, we had a Compounding class that taught Pharmacy students how to create other pharmaceutical products that had not been created my pharmaceutical companies to make it easier for the patient that needed them. We had the opportunity to create hand sanitizer, capsules, suppositories, etc. as another alternative for animals and humans. I also enjoyed measuring and mixing things together that people could use to make their life easier and help them to be more compliant with taking their meds.
Pharmacy school was not easy for me, but I kept showing up. Even when I wanted to quit and change my major, I kept at it. I wasn’t afraid to ask for help when I needed it. That sometimes involved going to office hours to get help from professors or asking classmates if I could study with them. Eventually it worked out for me and I was able to graduate with a Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree. I am so proud of myself for not giving up and I take the same energy and motivation I had in pharmacy school for my business today.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love Cleveland and what it has to offer. One of the best things about Cleveland is the food. So when I get together with friends, I take pride in my restaurant recommendations. I would take my friends to Brewnuts which is my favorite donut shop. If they wants pizza, Angelo’s is the best place to go in Cleveland. If they want brunch, we would go to Soho or Luxe. Lunch, Good Company or All Saints. Most of the time, my friends wants a good corn beef sandwich, so I would take them to Slyman’s or Vienna’s to get a good one. With Cleveland being a huge sports city, we gotta go to a Cavs, Browns, or Indians game. Cleveland has so much to offer and these are some of my favorites.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my wife Erica for her support and push into this direction. This would have been just a thought in my mind if it weren’t for her. I would like to thank my uncle, Tyrone Arnold for suggesting that I do a YouTube Review on a popular mens soap company. Because of the success of my review, I would not had thought of creating my own soap company. I would like thank Torrian Denise for teaching me how to make handmade soap and mentoring me. Last but not least, I would like to thank McKinley Wiley for recommending me for this interview.
