Meet Asmita Kerkar | Spatial Experience Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Asmita Kerkar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Asmita, let’s talk legacy – what do you want yours to be?
“The things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone, but the things you do for others remain as your legacy”
I have been brought up in an environment where I have experienced my parents showing kindness, care and love be it supporting our house help children’s education or taking care of the stray animals.I have never seen their attitudes change based on hierarchy of the position the person holds and this has played an important role in shaping my legacy. The passion I have of being able to actively give back to the community is something that has been instill in me since a young age which I am proud of.
I believe in spreading kindness – it’s not really difficult to ask someone if they are okay if you see them disturbed, it takes three words YOU GOT THIS when someone is going through a tough day, we do not have to do huge gestures even a small gesture of smiling to a person who is looking at you makes the difference.I strongly practice being kind because when your kind to one person he will be kind to someone else and that starts a ripple effect spreading happiness which we won’t even be aware of.
I measure my success through smiles. I want people to remember me with a smile through a memory, a designed space, a deed or a conversation. The width of the smile is directly proportional to the finesse of my legacy

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a Spatial Experience Designer with a background in Architecture, I am deeply passionate about designing spaces that not only solve problems but also have a profound impact on human psychology. I specialize in understanding the psychology of space and how it influences individuals and communities.
What truly inspires me as a designer is the power we have to tell stories through our spaces. I believe that every space has the potential to spark meaningful conversations, provoke thought, and drive positive change. Whether it’s creating environments that facilitate difficult discussions or designing spaces that contribute to healing and well-being, I strive to make a bold impact through the presence of my designs.
I firmly believe in the notion that change is a result of small steps taken consistently over time. Every action we take as designers has the potential to make a difference. By prioritizing empathy and engaging with the community throughout the design process, we can create spaces that resonate deeply with people, fostering a sense of connection and belonging. Through intentional design choices, we can inspire individuals and communities to take action towards building a more equitable and just society.
I am filled with excitement as I continue to explore the intersection of design and social change. I firmly believe that by working together, we can create a better world, one space at a time. I am actively seeking collaborations and opportunities to utilize my skills and creativity to make a positive impact on society.
Let’s join forces and shape a future where our spaces serve as catalysts for transformation and progress.
