We had the good fortune of connecting with Yancy Schwartz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Yancy, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I have a few habits or rules that I live by, one of the most important rules that I live by is watching my mouth. That means that I try not to talk too much or badly about anyone, and if I say I’m going to do something I do it. It helps for future things simply if I keep to that rule whatever I say most likely will come true and people will believe what i say. It builds integraty. My master Sri.Dharma Mittra says when you can control your mouth what you put in and what comes out you have already mastered much of your mind. That stuck with me so i live ny it now. Another habbit is my discipline in my yoga practice and routines in the morning alomost like brushing my teeth. I do it because it has to be done and once i get going its somewhat easy, so it translates in my outside life meaning that i get done or do what i have to do even if i dont like it. This discipline builds fortitude and charictar. With all the repetion in my practice mastery physically and mentally is obtained for the most part.So outside in the real world if something comes up an obstacle or challenge it gets figured out or handled and if i need help I will ask.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am full time yoga instructer, I have been instructing for 15 years , and in those 15 years have learned a lot. With that knowledge and experience I am honored when people come to take class with me and come back repeatedly. It’s nice to see that it helps people in their lives and that i am able to be of service to people. It’s my way of giving back to the comunity . As for personal work i dabble in music and creating thing like upcycleing old skateboards in jewlery furniture and functional items. Would love to perhaps shift gears into just playing music for now yoga pays the bills

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to coral canyon because it looks like mars then to the beach then get vegan nachos anywhere

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well there are few people organizations I started with skateboarding so that formed me as a person so the skate culture as a whole I am forever grateful then yoga my teachers main on Sri dharma Mittra and the dharma center in nyc helped me to fine tune my path in yoga and lastly music playing my guitar and singing ..Johnny thunders Black Sabbath are just a few of my inspirations for music !
