Meet Babiibleu Jess | Cosplayer & Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Babiibleu Jess and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Babiibleu, how do you think about risk?
I believe without risk there is no reward. However, it’s essential always to have a backup plan. After being laid off from my flight attendant career of more than 5 years during the pandemic. I had to sit with myself and ask what my next steps were & where they were going to lead me. I considered going back to school or taking up a trade. In the end, I took a leap of faith and decided to pursue content creation and live streaming on Twitch. My parents questioned the financial security aspect, but saw that I was dedicated and put in an entire year’s commitment. I made another risky decision and moved from Vancouver, Canada to South California to become a full-time content creator. I believe in being surrounded by other like-minded people and having the support of a community of friends.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I really enjoy connecting with people by first being vulnerable myself to help open up a conversation. I document my personal happiness journey on Twitch in hopes that I can help break through any stigmas on mental health. The world is a better place when you realize you’re not alone. I’m really proud of the community I’ve built based on that mutual respect on mental health. Who would have thought ending a long-distance 2-year relationship in the midst of the pandemic would push me to seek help through therapy and just talking about it online would lead to my career today? It wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows, as I shared some really intimate details during my trauma recovery. Some important lessons I learned were how to maintain healthy boundaries with parasocial relationships with fans. I want the world to know that having mental health issues, although not easy by any means, does not make you any less of a person and that with the right help and community, anything is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re in So Cal, I’d highly recommend checking out Orange County! A lot of people think of Los Angeles when they visit South California, but I personally prefer OC.
Some good eats I recommend are Nep Cafe/Gem Dining (Fountain Valley), Shootz (Rodeo 39 Public Market in Stanton), Hiro Nori Craft Ramen (Irvine), Izakaya Osen (Irvine), Baekjeong KBBQ, Yuk Dae Jang, GUI BBQ Restaurant & Bar (Rowland Heights) & Cream Pan. I could keep going! The foodie scene is great in California.
If you want to go shopping, I suggest two malls: South Coast Plaza and Irvine Spectrum. These are easily two of the nicest malls I’ve seen with a lot to see and do.
As far as beaches go, there’s a Ritz-Carlton hotel located on a hill in Laguna Niguel overlooking the beach. It’s a gorgeous view and a great place to take a date. Balboa Island in Newport Beach is great to explore the ferries, go whale watching or simply drive around looking at the beautiful homes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Despite not always having the best relationship with my parents, I want to give my mom and dad a giant shoutout. Another person that deserves credit and recognition would have to be my therapist. There was a lot to unpack on my personal mental health journey & I couldn’t have done it alone. I’ll always advocate for mental health and it makes my heart happy to know that my community is so accepting and loving.
