We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole and Katerina Frearson and Grishanina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole and Katerina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Katerina and Nicole worked at a few of the top salons in Los Angeles and first opened their salon six years ago in Woodland Hills. They out grew the space fast and needed to find a new space to expand their business. The process was not easy and took them four years to find the perfect space. The girls used to love traveling to Tulum, Mexico when not behind the chair. This is where they then got their inspiration for a minimalist, calming design to create a space for woman to feel relaxed and beautiful. We started Salon Oaselle not only for our clients but also for other stylists to have a place where they can call home and express their creativity. We thrive off education, wether that be for our clients to educate them on what type of products/tools they should be using or how to style their own hair at home based off their lifestyle, down to educationg our stylists on how to grow a successful business behind the chair.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Salon Oaselle offers variety of services including the latest color techniques, hair extensions, hair cuts, and treatments. We specialize in color including “lived in”, balayage, and Air touch. We are a high end, luxury salon located in the Valley of Los Angeles and that is what sets us apart from other salons in the area. We carry only the most high end professional products for our clients which include Kerastase and Milbon. We also offer many types of hair extensions along with using multiple different brands that the stylists feel are best fit for the client. Even though the majority of our clientele is woman, we do offer customized mens cuts along with children’s cuts aswell. We of course have overcome many challenges over the years but have eachother support to keep moving forward when times get tough.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our favorite spots for dinner include Elephante with is located in Santa Monica with a beautiful view of the ocean, Mastro’s Ocean Club is their favorite place to go after work for dinner and if you come there during the day you can walk down to the Topanga State beach and enjoy the sunshine. Century City Mall is the place where we like to go shopping and spend a day once a week working on the behind scenes of the business. Sometimes we go to Manhattan beach for bike riding and sushi.

For drinks Edition hotel has a nice rooftop, and Baltaire in Brentwood on Wednesday and Thursday for Jazz night.
Getty Center has some breathtaking views and nice to walk around or going for a hike.

Hollywood Hills hike is a nice place to go to in the mornings, afternoons usually too hot there.
And if you’d like to have a relaxing day at the spa, our favorite is Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake where they give the best massages and have the best guacamole and smoothies by the pool
