Meet Stephen Lind | Singer / Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephen Lind and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephen, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always been drawn to creative “things”, even when I wasn’t sure what my outlet was going to be. I knew I had to do something that allowed me to showcase my art, and luckily I’ve found a handful of outlets that allow me to do so.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My music is really about having fun and not being the one to limit yourself. I don’t necessarily believe I am different from any other musician who is trying to find their place in this world, but I do my best to lean into “me.” I know my thought process, approach and vision is my own.
In this moment, I am the most proud of me. I have accomplished things I have only ever dreamed of this past year and have a schedule that still doesn’t feel real.
There have been a lot of lessons learned along the way; the one that comes to mind right now is intent. I started doing music in a way where I would give myself an out, like “oh this is going to be bad but it’s because of a, b and c.” I slowly but surely figured out that this was directly tied to my intent; I was afraid to admit that I did want this to be bigger than anyone could possibly imagine, and my work could never reflect that authentically if I didn’t speak my own truth and live in my intent.
I don’t know if I have one specific thing I would want the world to know about me; I think I would just want anyone who does find out about me to know that I’m having a really great time and I want everyone else to, too.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This one is a little tough! My favorite parts of the city actually surround it. I love how beautiful and low-traffic certain parts of Glendale, Pasadena and the Angeles Forest bordering area can be. I would want us to get away from all of the city life and just have peaceful moments in nature, as corny and cliche as that probably sounds. As for food? I would probably make us visit Beer & Salsa (#4, obviously) and any and every Sushi spot we came across. If they were craving some of the touristy stuff, I would probably just walk down Hollywood Blvd and pop into one of their attractions, escape houses are fun but I have never even come close to winning one.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A lot of people deserve a lot of credit for helping me achieve what I have so far. Bryant Berry has been someone who has seen me and the vision the whole time, even when I couldn’t. Michelle Gollegly has been my soundboard through this whole process, from the initial “I think I’m going to write a song” to “which cover art do you like best?” Taylor Sparks took a chance working with me and is instrumental in my growth as a singer and songwriter. He’s an incredibly talented musician. Dale Frost has been my biggest fan since I started, he treats me like the celebrity I am. There are a lot more but those four have really made a huge impact on me and my career.
