We had the good fortune of connecting with Dennis Middleton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dennis, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
In the current age of the mass manufactured furniture which upholds a two to three year lifespan, until it is thrown away into our landfills, replaced by another, and the cycle continues. We are taking an alternate route by playing a part in the Slow Furniture Movement. Best described as a practice in which thoughtful design and meticulous craftsmanship integrate into each and every piece of furniture that we make. Resulting in heirloom quality furniture made with beautiful locally sourced materials, timeless design, and craftsmanship that can be passed down generation to generationw
What should our readers know about your business?
At Copperhead Furniture, it is much more than a point of sale purchase, a large part of the process is the relationship between us and the client. We give a lot to each and every piece we make and our clients value that aspect, especially since they are most likely making a lifetime purchase. As we continually grow our collection of furniture, it is incredibly rewarding to have our clients grow with us by owning multiple pieces and contributing to our small business by sharing their support. The fact is, this is a long road and I will always be growing this business. It takes a lot of dedication, reputation, and overall love for the craft, but no it is not easy. Running a small business you find our very fast that you hold a plethora of job titles you were not expecting to, but in the end it is all centered around the passion of woodworking and furniture design.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of the best aspects of of Los Angeles is the variety. You can enjoy the waves in Malibu, hike in the Angeles National Forest, and see a Dodger game all in the same day. Maybe the next day see a movie at the Chinese Theatre, tour some amazing museums, and cap it off at The Comedy Store.

Being located in Los Angeles, I am incredibly fortunate to be apart of such a wonderful community of artists and creatives to consult with, learn from, or collaborate with. So Shout Out to all those artists living their dream and doing what they love to do, it will always be an inspiration to me.
