Meet JohnJames Urata | Designer & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with JohnJames Urata and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JohnJames, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Adaptability. There have been a lot of ups and downs in the past couple of years. Being able to adapt in any situation is a must. You don’t know what life’s going to throw at you, you’ve got to have faith in God and trust His plan. Another important habit is having a daily routine. You’ve got to make the most out of your twenty-four hours. Having your day planned out ahead of time will have you set and ready instead of wasting time trying to figure out what to tackle that day. Lastly, I can say embracing failures and being real with yourself. When starting a business, you’re bound to fail. Embracing failure will allow you to learn from your mistakes, develop a stronger shell, and come back to bat knowing a possible outcome. Business is risky, and you have to take risks to grow. Risks can lead to big setbacks but could also lead to even bigger breakthroughs.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a reflection of originality. What sets me apart from others is my dedication to the game & pushing beyond the boundaries of creativity. Detail is everything and I like to add as many details as I can. I have pride in my work knowing that it challenges the norm and inspires viewers to see the world through a lens they never seen before.
My journey to where I am today professionally has been anything but easy. I’ve came across many challenges and obstacles along this journey so far. However, these challenges have been what’s shaping my artistic spine. They forced me to adapt, learn, and evolve. I believe that resilience in the face of adversity is a cornerstone of artistic growth.
Throughout my career, I’ve learned the importance of authenticity and staying true to my unique brush. It’s easy to get caught up in trends and the expectations of today, but I’ve found that staying original and authentic is what truly resonates with audiences. What’s more real than real ?
What I want the world to know about me and my brand Ø2riginal is that we are dedicated to pushing creativity, originality, and going against what we’re “supposed to be doing”. We aim to inspire others to express their own uniqueness and to see the truth in originality. My story has just begun, and I hope it serves as a source of inspiration for aspiring artists and creatives worldwide as I once and still am looking up to those who have experienced a similar dream of mine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d start the day off with opening the garage, pulling the cars out to wash, and turning on some oldies. After that, cruise to one of the many food spots here in Carson and hit up Fosters Freeze after. Later that night, go to a cruise night and hit the boulevard. It’s a million things that you could do out here in Southern California but me personally, if I’m in my rider, the weathers right, and the sounds right, that’s all I could ask for.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to God ! Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. God has blessed me with the gift of life. I Thank Him for the opportunities he has given me and the guidance to get me through every challenge I face.
