Meet Dee Rowe | Single Mom Mindset Coach & Freelance Writer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dee Rowe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dee, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
I became a single mother of my two daughters when they were 5 and 2.5 years old. That experience taught me many lessons, which are the foundation on which I built my proprietary Goddess Glow coaching programs for single moms. However, the lesson that impacted my children most is that your subconscious thoughts and beliefs about how the world works and your place in it control almost every aspect of your life. And what impacts your life affects your children’s.
This is a lesson I wish I had learned sooner. Before I learned this lesson and began to take action to change those subconscious thoughts and beliefs to align with the life I wanted for my little family instead of the life we had, I was not the mom I could have been. And because I was self-teaching and it takes A LOT of time to rewire your brain and change the landscape of your subconscious mind on your own, the improvements were gradual and almost imperceptible at first.
But, when I look back with the perspective that time provides, I realize we’ve come a long way. That change started with me making a conscious effort to change what was going on in my subconscious mind. It allowed me to find better and better-paying jobs. It allowed me to eventually break the toxic relationship-heartbreak-loneliness cycle and attract a relationship that many of my friends envy. It allowed me to stop being so reactive and not to take everything personally – an essential skill to survive teenage years with two daughters.
Scientists say that change only lasts if it takes place in the subconscious mind and consciously. That’s why breaking bad habits or sticking to a healthy diet is so hard. So, if you want a change to “stick,” whether it’s how you think and feel about yourself and your life, your habits, your diet, how you respond to triggering situations, or anything else, it must start in the subconscious mind.
This is exactly the process I guide single moms in my coaching programs through. Luckily for them, they don’t have to do it alone, so results are achieved faster than I did when I struggled through that journey without a guide. And the impact on their children is just as real as it was on mine. Their children begin to experience the following:
* Life with at least one parent who is actively filling their cup and practicing radical self-care to be the best parent they can be.
* The increased financial and emotional stability that your mindset glow up provides.
* At least one example of an adult that does the inner work to forgive themselves and others, set and enforce healthy boundaries, and care for themselves so they can care for others.
* Through mimicking your example (trust me, this happens even if you can’t see it), they learn healthy coping mechanisms and tools to make the chances of them repeating your mistakes less likely.
* The inner knowing that it’s okay to walk away from unhealthy relationships and save time and energy for those who love and accept your entire package.
Imagine if all children grew up with these experiences.
So, I firmly believe that working on your mindset with a coach or mentor to guide you is the best thing you can do to have a positive rather than negative impact on your children.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There are a lot of coaches out there, but coaches for single moms always getting their hearts broken is a rather unique niche. However, whenever I thought about what segment of the population I related to most, it was those single moms. After all, I’ve spent most of my adult life as one. I know the pain, the tears, the challenges, the struggles, the worries, the overwhelm. This helps me better guide and support the single moms who resonate with the need to “fix their broken relationship picker.”
It’s not easy, but it is easier with a guide than going alone like I did. But, it is possible to release the subconscious barriers keeping you from having that “couple goals” relationship you consciously believe you deserve. Removing the burdens of guilt, shame, bitterness, and resentment is possible. You can profoundly and thoroughly remember your worth. You can reconnect with all the traits, skills, abilities, and characteristics that make you a catch. You can glow from within like a goddess with such confidence that you become a magnet to those who can love and support you the way you crave.
It takes some patience and persistence, and sometimes, it means doing things that feel uncomfortable at first. But, I promise you, it’s worth it for you, your children, and your children’s children. And I’ll be there to hold your hand every step of the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My LA area “must-dos”:
Breakfast:
Halfway House Cafe http://www.thehalfwayhousecafe.com/ breakfast, brunch, or lunch in a traditional diner adjacent to an ancient gas station. Too many movies, shows, and commercials have been shot here for me to name them all, but the 1990s iconic Cindy Crawford Pepsi commercial was one of them.
Myke’s Cafe https://mykescafe.com/ creative, inventive breakfast, burgers, and Mexican dishes in a fun, quirky, artsy setting. The playlist is always fire every time I visit.
The Front Yard https://www.thefrontyardla.com/ it weather and wait time permits, sit on the outdoor patio. It’s cute, homey, and the kind of patio I wish I had.
H Cafe https://hcafes.com/ Parking can be challenging, but the food is worth it, and celebrity sightings have been known to happen.
The Six Social House http://the6socialhouse.com/studiocity I’m a sucker for a pretty patio, and they don’t disappoint. They also have a seasonal menu that changes several times yearly, so it always feels exciting and new.
Crepissima https://delicrepissima.com/ It’s in Valencia, but the chicken enchilada crepe is to die for.
Lunch or Dinner:
Spruce & Oak https://www.spruceandoakbar.com/ It’s in Newhall and only open for dinner, so hit it up the same day you have Crepissima and visit Magic Mountain.
Phillipe The Original https://www.philippes.com/ Counter serve spot that arguably has the best French Dip in Los Angeles.
La Chene https://lechene.com/ is in a historic building and has fantastic French cuisine. Save room for the Creme Brulee.
Factory Kitchen https://thefactorykitchen.com/ Michelin-starred restaurant with handmade pasta and the best gnocchi I’ve ever had.
The Magic Castle – Dinner and phenomenal up-close magic tricks in a gorgeous historic mansion that used to be a private home. I wrote a blog post all about how you can get on the guest list and what you need to know here: https://basicbfindsbalance.com/the-magic-castle-is-it-worth-it/

Hang out at Zuma Beach in Malibu for the day, and while you’re there, stop at Whole Foods for a sandwich and some possible celebrity sightings.
Magic Mountain (not as cool as it was before COVID, but we have to support it if it’s going to bounce back)
Go to a game at Dodger Stadium and have yourself a Dodger Dog.
Check out these underrated hikes, where you can often find a waterfall if water levels permit: https://basicbfindsbalance.com/waterfall-hikes-in-los-angeles-county/
If you feel like venturing slightly outside the county: Ventura Beach Marina Park, Ojai, CA, or take a trip down the Kern River near Kernville, CA, with Kern River Outfitters https://kernrafting.com/
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many people deserve a shoutout for being contributors to my success, including:
My sister, Marina Chavez, the owner of Breathe Oceanside yoga, meditation, and sound-healing studio in Oceanside, CA, for always believing in me even when I did not believe in myself.
Beth Cancellieri, for introducing me to network marketing, which introduced me to personal development and mindset work.
My exes, for making me uncomfortable enough with the status quo to be motivated to change it.
My husband, Lucas Rowe, for seeing my whole package, including the not-so-great parts, and saying, “f*ck yes, I’m in!” and for being the primary financial provider so I can go off and be creative and coach other single moms like I used to be, also, for being at least as much of a blessing to my daughters as he is to me.
To Ali Daniel, soul-aligned coach for coaches, for finding me on social media and convincing me I could have a more significant positive impact coaching and teaching me how to get started. And, to all the coaches in Path to Freedom and Scale With Soul, I could not do this without your support, feedback, and encouragement.
To the Life With Francy podcast for popping my podcast guest appearance cherry.
To @Mindful.Melissa on Instagram for being the first of the other single mom coaches I found to value collaboration over competition. We rise higher when we lift each other up instead of tearing each other down.
