We had the good fortune of connecting with Tara & Demetri Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tara & Demetri, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was important for my husband and I to create generational wealth, Leave a tangible legacy behind for our Families. Making Premium ice cream chose us. Demetri, being gifted with his hands and a carpenter by trade, is the ‘Taste’. My (Tara) background, of 35+ years in administration and hospitality is the ‘Face’. We call it a dynamic duo because it works so well together. Understanding that we both have a heart for service. Providing quality ingredients, specialty flavors really speak to the community and is well received. Creating something that started with an idea that ten years later have developed into what we believe to be a floor with no ceiling. It’s only UP from here.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Tee N Dee’s is a Premium ‘Mobile’ Ice Cream Vendor. Specializing in made to order created flavors and quality ingredients. Providing a personable experience. From weddings, corporate events, college events to neighborhood movie night. Most proud that we believed in the idea of entrepreneurship. Ten years later have materialized a whole business. Excitement is an understatement as to what dreams may come and fulfill themselves. Easy wouldn’t be the word to describe our journey. Commitment comes to mind. Respect comes to mind. For us, two very important Principles in business! Easy, not so much. Both having had 1st careers, up until July ’22. I, Tara, retired from the corporate space. While Demetri remains in the 6am-2pm grind. Both committed to scaling this business to its Pinnacle. Respecting one another’s opinion, efforts, input are key for us. Also staying mindful that we’re on the ‘same team’. Our story book of life will have many pages to it. Tee n Dee’s (Our Baby) since we do not have children, will be our legacy we leave for the masses. The success in achieving the tangibles (things) are great. However, the intangibles like tenacity, faith, integrity and service are the most satisfying for Us.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well if you knew my best friend, you’d know she’d have all of that planned for me/us(lol). We’d ease our way into the itinerary. First day we’d catch up on friends and family talk. Have dinner in while watching our guilty pleasures (usually reality tv). Dessert it up with Garrett’s Chicago mix popcorn and get ready for a day of wine tasting. I/we do enjoy a nice wine tasting over a charcuterie spread. Head to a dinner at Rutherford Grill to soak up all that good wine, then head home. A good ‘Stacks’ breakfast to start our day off. Followed by a little shopping, another relaxing evening indoors, with a home cooked meal . A nice hike at Wilder Ranch will always do the trick. The drive up and back listening to everything from 70’s lite rock to hard core rap also do the trick. We’ll squeeze another evening indoors. End it with a day of self care at Watercourse Way because we’ve worked so hard at having fun(lol)
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
As mentioned in our bio. Our friends and family were our guinea pig in the early years. They offer such enthusiastic and authentic support. Each in their own way provide a helping hand, an ear to listen and a lot of times, full of information. No way we could’ve come this far without them.
