We had the good fortune of connecting with Shermane Cowans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shermane, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk has helped me FLOURISH, honey! I’ve gotten to go to NYC and do a summer program at one of the top NYC schools there in Manhattan. I attended the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts in July-August 2022 and was offered at 13k scholarship! I was picked of 13 from 210 other students! I also have been in an Awarded short horror indie film, I’ve been in an Amazon prime TV show turned Tubi Movie! I’ve been in another short film shot in my home state of Kentucky. All by just putting myself out there! I truly just have a “wing it” mentality! I think if every one just put themselves out there and they see how much further they get .. they’d do it ! And love it !

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
It definitely wasn’t easy. I took a lot of work. Professionally I got here by just meeting a lot of people that have the same passion about their craft the same way I do. Helping with my auditions, teaching me ways to remember my lines and my attention to really understanding the character role. Lessons I’ve learned are to basically just keep learning. You always literally always have room to grow. Learning to be more natural, learning to be more vibrant and get out of your shell. A lot goes into this. I want the world to know that it’s okay to want to have extraordinary dreams. You don’t have to settle for some bs career if you don’t want too! Go out there. Put the effort in because nobody is gonna show you love all the time until they see you applying pressure!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The area of where I live is Lexington, KY. We are the city of a D1 school called UK. Basket and football games are unusually during the fall/winter so if they come around that time we are definitely going tailgating and watching a game. During the summer, there are so many pool parties and bars having events. It’s actually a lot to do besides partying. It’s a bunch of greenery so we can go hiking, camping. I love Kentucky!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my family and my two best friends Alaysha and Dmya for always supporting me and looking how when I really needed the help! They know the details! Also my mentor Susan Mclaughlin who took me under wing and helped me get my own day in Lexington, KY .. I could really go on and on but I don’t want anyone to feel left out. Shout out to everyone who has shared any posts or anything about me !
