We had the good fortune of connecting with Shunta Graham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shunta, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
First off let’s define what taking a risk is. Taking a risk is the act or fact of doing something that involves danger or risk in order to achieve a goal according to Webster dictionary. Now that we have define it now I can explain how taking a risk has played a role in my life. The first risk I can remember taking that had a tremendous impact on my life was informing a teacher when I was in junior high that I was being sexual abuse at home. I knew by taking this risk that I could be taken away from my mother or my life and my family’s life could have been in danger or she would not believe me and nothing would have happened. But I decided to take the risk and prayed that it will work out for my good and it did. I also took another risk later in life that lead me to finally speak up, to speak out and to show up for ME. I decided to tell my story of sexual trauma and bullying in an anthology called “Blessed NOT Broken: The Power of Transformation. By doing that project I was finally able to use pen and paper to give a voice to the voiceless. To show others that they are not alone and they too can be an overcomer. This is how risk taking has transformed my life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am happy to introduce myself and share more about my journey as a media personality, book collaborator, and the driving force behind the Show Up Manifest and Grind podcast. What sets me apart from others is my unique approach to healing and personal growth by using the arts, particularly dance, speaking and art.

First I want to talk about my book collaboration with Bless Not Broken anthology. It is a testament to the power of resilience and the human spirit. Through a joint effort myself and several other women have created a work that digs deep into our personal experiences and offers guidance to others who have faced trauma and adversity.

The Show Up Manifest and Grind podcast is another extension of my passion for empowering others. Through this platform, I aim to provide a space for genuine conversation, inspiration, and action taking guidance for women seeking personal and professional growth. The podcast focuses on various topics on mindset, manifestation, and the importance of making a consistent effort in achieving one’s goals.

My journey to where I am today has been far from easy. I faced numerous challenges, obstacles, and self-doubt along the way. However, what helped me overcome these hurdles were the arts. Dancing, singing, writing, painting, and media have been my outlets for self-expression, healing, and personal transformation. Using these creative forms have allowed me to dive deep into my emotions, gain clarity, and ultimately, find strength within myself to start to heal my inner child.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned throughout my journey is the importance of resilience. Life will definitely throw curveballs, but it’s how we choose to respond that truly matters. Resilience is about bouncing back from adversity, focusing on the lessons learned, and continuing to grow. It is the backbone of my personal brand and story.

What I want the world to know about me, my brand, and my story is that there is so much power in authenticity and owning your experiences. Through vulnerability and sharing our stories, we not only heal ourselves, but inspire others to do the same. I want to encourage individuals to embrace their uniqueness, find comfort in their passions, and believe in their ability to create positive change in their lives.

Finally, my personal statement highlights my unique perspective as a media personality and book collaborator, emphasizing the Show Up Manifest and Grind podcast, my ability to utilize dance and art as transformative tools, and the challenges I have overcome along the way. Ultimately, my purpose is to inspire and empower others, reminding them of their natural strength and the endless possibilities that lie within. Always remember that God has already placed in you everything you need to heal you and to impact others.
