We had the good fortune of connecting with Micole Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Micole, what do you attribute your success to?

Defining, planning and designing statement events and projects.

Success to me is having the freedom to create, on your own terms. I have been an indie since 2009 when I became an author and in 2010 when I became a filmmaker. I launched Eclectically You Experience, LLC in 2017 in order to better serve other creatives, business owners as well as the creative community.

Eclectically You Experience is an award-winning publishing and production company that is not afraid to evolve yet stay true to our core values – celebrating what makes people who they are and helping people realize their best version of themselves. Through inspiring, empowering and educational content, resources and events, we are excited about upcoming projects and partnerships. A new, transformative book for creatives and stage play inspired by true events are in the works.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Don’t wait on anyone to jumpstart your own creative career. Discover yourself as a talent. Take matters into your own hands and do what you can now, wherever you are. There are many ways to get a job done. Embrace your way and embark on a journey that is eclectically you. I know oftentimes when you go at it this way, there will come a unique set of challenges that seem overwhelming at times, but tap into different resources (personal affirmations, books, mentorship, community) in order to power-through. I believe when you bloom where you are planted, you are never chasing a dream outside of yourself , but you are instead planting seeds that will be a harvest in the end. These days, I am more intentional about empowering others to take creative control, shape their own narratives and have something creative for themselves at the end of the day, even if it is a one-time project that allows you to grow in a special way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I definitely would have an itinerary and try to make the most out of the time since there is so much to do in LA.

– A nice walk on Santa Monica beach and some meditative yoga is a great way to start a Saturday.
– A rewarding brunch at Cafe Vida in Culver City would be filled with unique /semi-healthy pancakes and great convo, allowing us to catch up on life’s latest.
– Some artsy/museum gathering off of Washington would be a mid-day event.
– Gotta get lunch at Mel’s Fish Shack. I always get the medium-fried salmon, collard greens and fries – and then try to walk it off.
– Maybe look at the plants next door. Maybe stop at the Noname Book Club and check out some books with my library card.
– End the night hanging out, dancing at Clifton’s Republic – DT, or cocktails at Laurel Hardware on Santa Monica or a patio party at Cara Hotel or at Mama Shelter or concert at the Kia Forum. Anything to end the night dancing and with good vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am grateful for EYE’s support system, overall. Connecting with others on a more fulfilling level has always been something I value. I like creating transparent, uplifting and enlightening spaces for others to celebrate where they are and grow from there. I am grateful for the people who have partnered with me on different initiatives or patronized EYE events over the years and most recently.

More and more, I realize my books have allowed me to evolve, travel more and curate experiences that encourage people. These are interesting times and more people are receptive to the idea of and the need for self-care. With more people embracing this mindset, Summer 2023 was very enlightening. I am grateful for the recent partnerships made for my recent “35 Love Notes to Self” Affirmations #litgirlsummer book tour. HTX, LA, ATL, NOLA and NY were special stops and special thanks to Wells Fargo, venue owners/managers, podcasters, and new and old readers of my books.

Also a special thanks to those educational forums who invited me to speak and work with other educators and advocates. May we lift up and encourage those who educate our kids in every community. I wanted to acknowledge specifically The State of the Black Learning Conference, Houston Independent School District, E3 Conference, Region 4, BSN’s Black Mental Health Series and the attendees at my professional development workshops. This has been a great season.
