Hi Kiera, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Achieving a healthy work-life balance is crucial for success. For me it’s crucial to maintain the equilibrium in my professional life. Striking a balance between creativity and productivity is key, as both aspects are essential for long-term growth and fulfillment.
By nurturing my creative side, I can tap into new ideas, innovative solutions, and fresh perspectives. On the other hand, by embracing productivity it ensures that I can stay focused, meet deadlines, and accomplish tasks efficiently.
Finding this equilibrium takes a series of trial and error in order to determine what works best for me. Also prioritizing self-care and allocate time for activities outside of my career that brings me joy.

Hey there! I’m Kiera Atkins, a multi-passionate creative based in Baltimore, MD. As a master control operator at Fox 45 and the CEO of Star Light Media Productions, I have the privilege of bringing captivating moments to life through film and music. With over 10 years of experience in the industry, my journey began at a young age when I found my love for film production through my church’s media ministry.
When I’m not behind the lens capturing those special moments, you can find me expressing myself as a photographer or crafting heartfelt songs under my rap alter ego “Suave with the Flo”. As an upcoming film producer, I strive to ignite emotions and create meaningful connections with every project I undertake. I’m an unstoppable force, fueled by passion for music and film. No setback too great, no challenge I can’t take on. As I continue in my professional career I realized each year has brought me closer to my purpose, allowing me to evolve as an individual and make an impact in this world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things to do in my past time is exploring Maryland’s different places and trying out their restaurants. Downtown Baltimore is a must visit, especially with its vibrant atmosphere and great seafood options at the harbor. Indulging in some crabs while taking in the stunning views of downtown sounds like the perfect summer activity. I also enjoy exploring DC and there many restaurants and tourist spots.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my family, who have been my unwavering pillars of support throughout my entire journey. Their support, both financially and emotionally, has been instrumental in helping me navigate through the highs and lows of life.
I am truly fortunate to have such a loving and supportive family who always stand by me, cheering me on in all my endeavors. They have believed in me even when I doubted myself and have provided the encouragement and strength I needed to overcome challenges.
Additionally, I would like to acknowledge the influence of my professional friends who continuously inspire and motivate me to push beyond boundaries. Their unwavering belief in my abilities has compelled me to step out of my comfort zone and strive for greatness.
To both my family and friends, thank you for being there for me every step of the way. Your support has been invaluable in shaping who I am today.
