We had the good fortune of connecting with Vasti Varela and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vasti, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I often remember struggling in school as a child finding the simplest academic assignments to be difficult and frustrating. It wasn’t till I started college that I discovered I had dyslexia. Despite my difficulty in language arts and mathematics, I knew one thing was clear, I understood art, I had a passion to creating and problem solve to achieve something. I become completely consumed by it and positioned myself in a place that allowed me to make a living from it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are an Event Styling and Floral design business . Our personal love for creativity, art, and all things beautiful , have lead us to create a space where we can freely and artfully express ourself through event styling and floral design. Building relations with our clients have been the key for us. A large portion of our business comes from referrals, as so, we want our clients to feel heard, included in our design process and served well . We understand the immense trust our clients give to us to create memorable event and we hope the experience with us is pleasantly remembered in exchange.

I believe our strategy to love our clients, show them kindness, and serve them well has kept us in business for nearly a decade. Of course! as many small businesses we have seen our share of struggles, disappointments, and defeats, but our ability to be consistent and keep going despite those bad days/moments have helped nourish a personal strength and growth that I believe can’t be taught but rather, experienced. It is in those day to day reminders to keep going and not give up that we succeed. My hope is always to inspire our peers to do the same, we need one another, for when one wins, we all win.

We hope that whether you are having a wedding of 400 guest , a kids birthday party or a small 12 person private event our desire is always to provide you the best service we possibly can, to create a beautiful moment and do it in humility and love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Southern California and having a 8 year old daughter who loves all things Disney my first instinct would be DISNEYLAND! A day at the happiest place on earth would on the top.

A hidden gems that I love to visit from time to time is the Huntington Library and Botanical Garden in San Marino, CA . It is a wonderful place to explore and visit. The tranquil gardens and galleries make for a relaxing and peaceful afternoon. In addition it’s a wonderful place for children to learn and discover as well a few fun dining experiences.

Another gem I love is the “Flower field”‘ In Carlsbad, Although they are seasonal and not open year round, The 55 acres view of colorful ranunculus rows is a sight to see. From March to May the field is alive and blooming. As a florist and flower love, this spot is must.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, I dedicate all I have and all I’ve done to God. It is by His grace that I am able to do what I do toady. He opens the doors meant for me and closes the ones not meant for me. I couldn’t do this without his guidance.

Secondly, My family and friends, they are an ongoing stream of encouragement and support.

Thirdly, My Clients, who intrust us to beauty curate some of life’s most special occasions.
