We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Pancoast and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, why did you pursue a creative career?
Everything about our existence is kinda insane, haha…being creative has always helped cope with that insanity. From the moment I picked up my first instrument, a symbiotic relationship started with myself and music, and it turned out to be my connection to the planet.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been playing and producing music professionally for 20 yrs….A friend and I got a small independent record deal when we were in our late teens and I never looked back. I have a big sense of adventure when any instrument is in my hands. It helps me never be afraid to find unique and interesting ideas. I’ve also always been a person that understands music by just listening and feeling it…having this ability has brought me to where I am today. Its back to that connection with Earth thing

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would have to go and do some of the beautiful hikes all around this great city. Angeles National Forest, Malibu Canyon, Griffith Park, among others….being able to get out there in nature is everything…we would have to hit up all the wonderful Museums we have here in LA. Moma, Moca, Getty, etc…so much great art to see. Would take them to the New Beverly to watch some unbelievable double features they have running on the reg…for night life we would hit up, Hermosillo in highland park, Walts in eagle rock, and club teegee in at water. For lunch we go to waxpaper in Atwater, and Joy in highland park, and for dinner we go to Mirate and la Pergoletta in Los Feliz

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
All of my friends, family, and community…I would never have learned anything without them
