We had the good fortune of connecting with Karla Clark and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karla, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Moving to San Diego and starting completely from scratch. I moved here in December of 2015 to anchor the Lineage of King Salomon here in San Diego. I left a huge community in Seattle but I knew that the people I was meant to serve were here in San Diego. I have met hundreds of people here who have benefited from the teachings and healings of the lineage, and I started and have maintained a community of healers here in the south west corner of the United States. I know that thousands of people here will be supported by this metaphysical work.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my career as a research scientist. I was published as a first author in a molecular biology journal when I was an undergraduate. I love science. I got a degree in anthropology. I was also studying shamanic magick while I was a scientist, and many of the scientific ideas I had came to me during meditation and astral travel. I have always held science and the unseen close together.

Having a deep connection to both science and magick is different. Most scientist I knew were either religious or atheist, but none were metaphysical. Understanding and living deep metaphysical concepts is a different way of life. It allows for more wonder, more creativity, more joy, and more growth. Many people who market themselves as “energy healers” have no connection to science and can seem off balance or fluffy woo-woo. I use time tested protocols that have been handed down in an authentic lineage for 1000s of years, and I keep my connection with science.

I have had tremendous challenges in life. Having chronic illness, being a single mother, being a business owner, starting over in a new location… all of these are big challenges. I always stay connected to my core self, my life purpose, and the people I care about and then keep moving forward.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If anyone comes to San Diego, we will spend time at my healing studio SoulScience in Bankers Hill. Then we will take a walk in Balboa Park, and visit some museums. If the person likes beaches, we are going to Coronado and Ocean Beach. We have to see the sea lions in La Jolla too. We might head up to Elfin Forest. We will have some vegan bagels from Ben and Esthers, some vegan sushi at Gorilla Eats Sushi, and all kinds of good stuff at Donna Jean. Some folks like the zoo, so we would go to that too. We would have coffee from Scrimshaw or James Street Coffee.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I was born with a lot of genetic defects, but at that time the medical community didn’t really know about or consider those issues. My whole life I suffered from really strange illnesses. It is always described as non specific autoimmune illness. Now I know that I have at least 70 small mutations, and these affect different aspects of my metabolism. My body is a mutant and I have had to learn to live as best as I can with an abnormal biology. I have had a lot of naturopathic doctors and acupuncturists and herbalists help me along the way. The thing that really helped me the most was when I met Dr. Threresa Bullard back in 2002 in Seattle, and she provided my Life Activation session. This got me out of a deep health issue (my kidneys were failing and I was going blind) and opened the door to a much more vibrant life and also started me on this path, so I will always be grateful to her.
