Meet Alixandrée Claire | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alixandrée Claire and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alixandrée, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Well 1rst off, I never had a Plan B. I still sometimes wonder if that was a smart decision, or very naive. My thought process is, if there was a career that you really wanted to pursue, then you should put everything you’ve got into it. If you have a Plan B, then maybe subconsciously you are preparing yourself for failure. It’s kind of like manifesting, but in the opposite way. I believe that If what you’re pursuing is the one thing that is going to feed your soul, then DO NOT GIVE UP. That being said, if life starts to lead you down a different path, and you see that there may be more opportunities in this direction than the one you were on, be open to it. I try not to use the term “give up,” it’s more like shift. That shift could end up changing your life for the better.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As an Artist, and I say Artist instead of Actor, because to be an Actor, you have to a jack of all trades. At times you are your own wardrobe, hair and make up department, writer, director, therapist… and sometimes client. YOU are the product, therefore you have to know how to market yourself. I have been in this industry for a very long time. I started as a Ballet Dancer, then changed my focus to Drama. I have studied at School of American Ballet, Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and Second City. I graduated from NYU Tisch School of The Arts. The most important lesson I learned through all of that training, is to not take things to heart. Just because you had an amazing audition, does not mean you’ll get the part…AND THAT’S OK. Every audition is an opportunity to act, to create, to develop your skills and to market yourself. In this industry, success is not solely based on how many jobs you booked, success is also just getting the opportunity to audition. Stay the path, stay positive, remain humble, grateful, work hard, be professional, and most importantly, be kind, to others and to yourself.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Wow! Ok, so I would take them to Manhattan Beach. The vibe there is so cool and the beach is serene. I always make sure to go to Pancho’s Restaurant when I’m down there. West Hollywood is definitely on the list. So many fun bars and restaurants along Santa Monica Blvd. and the Sunset Strip. My favorite vegan restaurant is Gracias Madre on Melrose Ave. I would drive us up to Santa Barbara and maybe do a little wine tasting and shopping. We could go to Holdren’s Steak and Seafood for a delicious meal. We can do a tour of one of the studios. Also, if they were fans of a particularly show that happened to have a live studio audience, maybe we could go to a live taping. I actually have always wanted to ride on the double decker tour bus around the city, so that would be something fun. Maybe catch a show at The Pantages or The Ahmanson Theatre. We’re definitely doing Brunch. Marmalade Cafe, Fixins Soul Kitchen in DTLA, and The Griddle Cafe on Sunset are 3 of my favorite spots. We’ll do a little tour of Beverly Hills and Old Town Pasadena, and then of course, The Hollywood Walk of Fame. Whew, I’m tired!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been fortunate enough to always be surrounded by loving, kind and supportive friends, family, and co-workers. They say the only 2 things you need to survive in LA are a good and honest mechanic (Hi Norm’s Auto on Fairfax) and a great Agent. I would like to shoutout and thank my amazing, loving, hardworking agent Kylie Mackenzie. She puts her heart and soul into her clients and has cheered me on throughout this journey. Thank you Kylie! Your hard work and dedication is very much appreciated.
