We had the good fortune of connecting with Valerie Gordo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valerie, how do you think about risk?
In both the acting and art industries, I see risk-taking as essential for growth and innovation. It’s about embracing vulnerability, pushing boundaries, and exploring new horizons. In acting, it involves embodying complex characters and emotionally charged scenes. In art, it means experimenting with different styles and themes. While not every risk leads to immediate success, each one provides invaluable lessons and experiences that contribute to personal and professional development. Ultimately, risk-taking fosters resilience, creativity, and the courage to pursue our artistic visions despite uncertainty. It’s what fuels innovation and distinguishes exceptional art and performances in both industries.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is a reflection of my diverse passions and talents, which I continuously strive to refine and elevate. What sets me apart is my multidisciplinary approach and relentless dedication to honing my craft in various forms of expression. From playing the piano and guitar to exploring wall sculptures and engaging in ballet classes, each artistic endeavor fuels my creativity and enriches my perspective.

Professionally, my journey has been characterized by both challenges and triumphs. While pursuing a career in the arts is undoubtedly demanding, I’ve embraced the journey with determination and resilience. Balancing artistic pursuits with the need to sustain myself financially has been a constant challenge, but it has also taught me the value of perseverance and resourcefulness.

The two years I spent at the Lee Strasberg Acting Conservatory have been instrumental in shaping my artistic identity and honing my skills as a performer. Through rigorous training and immersive experiences, I’ve gained invaluable insights into the craft of acting and storytelling.

What I want the world to know about me is that I am not defined by one particular medium or discipline. My art is an expression of my authentic self, constantly evolving and transcending boundaries. I am driven by a relentless passion for creativity and self-expression, and I aspire to inspire others to embrace their unique talents and pursue their passions fearlessly.

In essence, I am grateful for the journey that has led me to where I am today—a place of self-awareness, fulfillment, and unwavering dedication to the pursuit of artistic excellence. I firmly believe in the adage, “Choose a profession you would do for free, and you won’t work a day in your life.” For me, art is not just a career; it’s a calling—a source of joy, purpose, and profound fulfillment. It’s a privilege to wake up every day and pursue my passions wholeheartedly, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my friends, who are the family I chose. They have been by my side through every high and low, offering unwavering support, understanding, and companionship. Their presence in my life has brought immense joy, laughter, and comfort during challenging times. Their belief in me, even when I doubted myself, has been a source of strength and encouragement. I am grateful for their love, loyalty, and the countless memories we’ve created together. To my friends, thank you for being my rock and for making life’s journey all the more meaningful and beautiful.
