Meet Kendrick Daniels | Actor & Personal Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Kendrick Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kendrick, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
This work life balance continues to be a challenge and working progress for me. I have always been a hard worker, and once I set my mind to something, I go full out to become the best I can be. The drive is high and constantly on my mind. At this point in my life, I have a beautiful wife and four amazing children. With that, I have to keep myself in check. The best way I have learned how is to operate based on priorities, what matters most, keeping first things first. Number one is to deepen my faith and grow my intimacy with God. Without that as my foundation, there is nothing for me to stand. Next is to intentionally develop the relationship with my wife of 17 years, on a daily basis. I am extremely ineffective when things aren’t right with us. Third is to pour into my children. They are our legacy and we have a limited time with them before they are grown and taking on the world. Everything else will flow from keeping these three top priorities in order. Still working at keeping things in order, but my wife has no problem checking me when things get out of whack. I also make sure to regularly connect with people who help to hold me accountable to what’s important.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently an actor with a personal trainer background. Been helping people for two decades work on their health and fitness results. Started out working for a commercial gym, then went independent and have opened fitness related businesses with my wife and business partners. Have learned a lot of valuable lessons in taking a leap of faith becoming an entrepreneur and having to close two businesses. About 7 years ago, a friend of ours suggested we submit our kids photos to modelling agencies because of their look. The kids had a meeting and were signed and they asked my wife and I if we would like to be part of any real family castings for commercials. We agreed but didn’t think much of it at the time. Then I got the chance to be on set because I booked a commercial with one of my daughters. I loved the whole experience. Getting a chance to meet new people, hearing their stories, working with the director to tell a story, and just enjoying being in the environment. A couple of years in and we had booked a few commercials and print jobs as a family. We wanted to learn how to improve so that we could get better at auditioning and have more value to bring on set. A friend of ours referred us to Studio 24 in Folsom. CA. I took my first TV/Film course and fell in love with acting. I remember telling my wife that it was super clunky for me at first, I had no idea what I was doing, however, I was ready to put in the work to improve. I enrolled in the Beginner ongoing class, then the pandemic hit. Classes were forced to go on zoom. We decided to use this time to improve our skill sets as a family. We took ongoing classes and got private coaching to work on auditioning, self tapes, character development and script breakdown. It was like training a muscle, you had to keep working on it, disciplining yourself to stay on track with a specific goal in mind. The best part is that we are working at it together as a family. It creates opportunities for us to bond and collaborate with each other. We book work together and individually and do our best to support one another. We are a family of actors and are looking forward to seeing where this journey will bring us.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever we are in the area we have to hit up Disneyland and Universal Studios. The kids love going to Polar Playground to get cotton candy in Huntington Beach. Then we head down to the beach and rent bikes to ride around and enjoy the scenery. Newport Beach is another real cool place to check out. Drove our car onto a boat for the first time!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to Harvest Church for helping our family grow as people. Shoutout to my wife for loving me unconditionally.
Shoutout to my kiddos for making your parents step up their game.
Shoutout to my friends who continue to hold me accountable and help me to grow.
