Hi Serena, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most crucial factor behind my success and the success of my brand is undoubtedly the mindset I’ve cultivated over the years. I firmly believe that success begins with a mindset rooted in confidence and resilience. Regardless of the challenges I’ve faced or the circumstances I’ve encountered, I’ve always maintained the unwavering belief that I will prevail.

Moreover, my passion for pure artistic endeavors and creativity has been a driving force behind my journey. This genuine love for creativity fuels my dedication and inspires me to continually push boundaries and innovate.

Authenticity plays a pivotal role in everything I do. I’ve made it a point to stay true to myself and my values, both personally and professionally. By remaining authentic, I’ve been able to connect with others on a deeper level and build genuine relationships that have contributed to the success of my brand.

In essence, the combination of a resilient mindset, a passion for creativity, and unwavering authenticity has been instrumental in shaping my journey and driving my success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am deeply passionate about fashion, styling, and photography, and I approach my art with the belief that beauty can be found in every corner of the world. With over two decades of experience in wardrobe styling across iconic cities like Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, I have had the privilege of contributing to major advertising campaigns, television shows, and fashion editorials, collaborating with industry-leading costume designers and stylists.

Last year, amidst the challenges faced by the Hollywood film industry due to strikes, I found myself seeking new avenues to express my creativity. Leveraging my extensive experience and harnessing all my creative energy, I delved into digital photography. Despite the uncertainty of the times, I firmly believed in the importance of staying creatively engaged and maintaining my artistic integrity.

From this commitment emerged my personal branding photography business, which seamlessly integrates my passion for wardrobe styling and creative direction with the art of photography. I am proud to offer a unique blend of expertise that sets me apart in the industry.

My journey to where I am today has certainly had its share of challenges, but each obstacle has only served to strengthen my resolve and deepen my dedication to my craft. Through perseverance, resilience, and unwavering passion, I have overcome hurdles and continued to grow both personally and professionally.

Along the way, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about the power of adaptability, the importance of embracing change, and the significance of staying true to oneself amidst adversity. These experiences have shaped me into the artist I am today, and I am grateful for every twist and turn that has led me to this point.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I am deeply committed to capturing the essence of beauty and authenticity in every project I undertake. Whether through styling, creative direction, or photography, my goal is to evoke emotion, tell compelling stories, and inspire others to see the world through a new lens.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1: Hollywood Highlights No trip to Los Angeles would be complete without experiencing the essence of Hollywood. We’d kick off the day with a hike through Griffith Park, soaking in the panoramic views of the city from the iconic Griffith Observatory. After working up an appetite, we’d head over to Los Feliz, my old stomping grounds, for a hearty brunch at Lil Doms, where the cozy ambiance and delicious Italian-American cuisine never disappoint. With our energy replenished, we’d explore the fascinating exhibits at the Griffith Observatory, learning about astronomy and space science in a fun and interactive way. As the sun sets, we’d cruise through Hollywood, soaking in the glitz and glamour of the Hollywood Walk of Fame before indulging in a classic Hollywood dining experience at the historic Musso and Frank Grill. It’s a day filled with adventure, culture, and delicious eats!

Day 2: Beverly Hills & LACMA
Today, we’d dive into the luxurious world of Beverly Hills, where shopping and art collide. We’d start our morning with a leisurely stroll through Beverly Hills, exploring the upscale boutiques and treating ourselves to some decadent treats at Sheera Sweets. For lunch, we’d dine al fresco at The Terrace at the Maybourne Hotel, savoring delicious dishes amidst the elegant surroundings. After fueling up, we’d head to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), immersing ourselves in its vast collection of art spanning various genres and eras. As the day draws to a close, we’d unwind with a scenic sunset boat ride at the marina, taking in the stunning views of the coastline.

Venice Beach & Malibu
Get ready for a day of beach vibes and laid-back luxury! We’d kick things off with a visit to the vibrant Venice Beach boardwalk, where we’d soak up the eclectic atmosphere and maybe even catch a street performance or two. Lunchtime calls for a culinary adventure at Gjelina on Abbott Kinney Blvd, followed by some leisurely shopping at the eclectic Artist and Fleas market. After indulging in some retail therapy, we’d head to the beach for some much-needed relaxation, basking in the California sun and taking a refreshing dip in the ocean. As evening approaches, we’d make our way to Malibu for a mouthwatering dinner at Nicolas Eatery, where we’d savor delicious French cuisine against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. It’s the perfect way to end a day of beachside bliss!

Santa Monica & Homemade Dinner
Today, we’d immerse ourselves in the vibrant energy of Santa Monica, starting with a visit to the bustling Santa Monica Farmers Market. We’d wander through the stalls, sampling fresh produce and artisanal goods, before indulging in a farm-to-table lunch at a nearby cafe. With our bellies full, we’d take a stroll along the iconic Santa Monica Pier, enjoying the ocean breeze and panoramic views of the coastline. As night falls, we’d head back to my place for a cozy and intimate dinner, where I’d whip up some of my favorite homemade dishes and share stories over good food and great company.

Pacific Coast Highway & Downtown LA
Get ready for a scenic adventure along the breathtaking Pacific Coast Highway! We’d hit the road early in my boyfriend’s muscle car, marveling at the stunning coastal vistas as we make our way through Malibu. Along the way, we’d stop at Neptune’s Net for a leisurely lunch, savoring fresh seafood and ocean views. On our way home we’d embark on an adventure through the picturesque Topanga Canyon. Cruising through the winding roads and soaking in the stunning scenery. Our first stop would be Alkemie Road, a charming boutique known for its unique artisanal jewelry. After catching up with friends and browsing their eclectic collections, we’d head back into the city as the sun sets on our LA adventure, we’d return home, cherishing the memories of our unforgettable journey through the City of Angels.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my incredible mother, whose unwavering support and belief in me have been the cornerstone of my journey. Despite the challenges she faced as a single working mom, she poured her heart and soul into nurturing my confidence and resilience, instilling in me the belief that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.

Six years ago, my mother and I embarked on a collaborative venture, launching a fashion and lifestyle blog for women over 50 called Style Beyond Age. This partnership not only strengthened our bond but also became a platform where my mother’s wisdom and grace could inspire women worldwide.

In addition to my mother, I am deeply grateful to all the mentors, friends, and supporters who have played a significant role in shaping my path and encouraging me to pursue my dreams. Their guidance, encouragement, and unwavering belief in my potential have been invaluable throughout my journey.
