Meet Allison Herrera | Wedding + Family Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Allison Herrera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Allison, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My business all started (officially) when I was pregnant with my first child. I was in college for a business degree with the intention of going into a marketing career but photography had always been a part of my life. I have always been drawn to art in general and it’s something I’m passionate about. I had already been doing photos for friends/family as well as some referals so I figured this was an opportunity to build a career for myself in something I love and be home with my new baby as much as possible.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand I have always felt is rooted in family. My business was built for my family and I have had the pleasure of seeing families blossom from the start. One of my proudest moments of my career is having photographed weddings to the actual births of their babies, to first birthdays, to holiday photos. I see it as such a blessing to be a part of capturing these moments especially as a mother.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have always said the easiest way to sell me something is to put flowers on it! The places I love the most are all very flowery places. Easily my favorite place in the whole world is Little Swiss Chalet in Redlands Ca it has so many beautiful floral candles, treats and vintage. Then probably visit their Pasadena location as well which is next to a cafe that has matcha cake! Another must for me is Morning Lavender for lavender and rose lattes or The Meek Cafe also for rose lattes (me and my husband actually went here after we eloped and they topped it with rose gold glitter). Id also have to fit in an order from We Are Dinah who sell Japanese Sandos and adorable green tea cookies with rose petals on them. As for places to visit first on my list would be the Huntington Garden, Kimberly Crest, Rio Rancho.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband Hector is hands down my biggest supporter. He has invested so much of himself into the success of my business.
Both my photography community as well as my friends and family have contributed so much as well. I couldn’t do what I do without their support.
