We had the good fortune of connecting with Breion 2’Live Bre Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Breion 2’Live Bre, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I know that everyday I live to move forward on my dreams. Some people think dreams only live when you are sleep but that dream is something that keeps you up at night. Every Hour that I live, I think about my vision for what I want my life to be. I can not give up on the things that make me. Most people call that joy and joy is way better than happiness it brings, love.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m 2’Live Bre, but you can call me Breion Terrance Dixon. I hail from Nashville, TN, and I’m proud to be known as a distinguished National hip-hop artist. Graduating from Tennessee State, I’ve crafted a unique sound inspired by the greats like Andre 3000, Nipsey Hussle, and Kanye West. Besides my musical endeavors, I’m also an executive producer at Brandon TV in Los Angeles, featured on Netflix’s R+F Season 1, and you might catch me on Tubi and Amazon in the film “Black America.”
Beyond my work in entertainment, I also serve as a judge on the Shine competition series alongside American idols Ashthon Jones and Brandon Stewart. Music has been my passion since the tender age of 13, and over the years, I’ve shared stages with some incredible artists like NBA Young Boy, Migos, Cardi B, and Young Thug.
Community empowerment is close to my heart, which is why I founded the non-profit Butterfly Nation. Through this organization, I aim to help creatives discover their purpose and community. Locally, I’ve been involved in mentoring youth at juvenile detention centers through music arts since 2021, with the support of Southern Word. My latest project, “Human Butterfly,” reflects my personal growth and aims to inspire others to embrace their transformative journey.
One of my favorite lyrics goes, “Gotta move like a butterfly, can’t caterpillar your whole life.” It’s not just a lyric; it’s a movement, urging individuals to pursue growth in all dimensions. Back in 2020, when I was contemplating giving up on my dreams, I had a life-changing encounter with DMX at the Nashville House of Legends. His words of encouragement and support reignited my fire. Before his passing, DMX expressed pride in our shared journey, promising to meet again. This encounter significantly influenced my music, leading me to prioritize mental health awareness and spirituality in my art.
Raised in Antioch and Salemtown of Nashville, I’ve faced adversity early in life. Despite challenges like my father surviving a shooting and losing my best friend Dj Malik during college, I’ve emerged as a trendsetter. My upbringing in two separate households shaped my identity, with basketball coaching from my dad on weekends and support from my mom and grandmother on weekdays.
Currently, I’m independently touring the South with my debut album, “Human Butterfly,” spreading positive messages through music and turning past hardships into uplifting stories. My journey is about resilience, growth, and inspiring others to embrace their own transformations.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I Love LA, when I am in LA I live in sunset blvd and go to Brandon TV studios in burbank time to time. I love Rosco chicken, was my first LA meal. I born a raised from Nashville so if you was in my city I’d take you my street on Jefferson street and give you a tour of TSU. My favorite places to go in my city is Noir, Jars, Superclub , and you can never go wrong with downtown Nashville when you are a 1st timer.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give recognition to the Cornelius group, RMG, ABC sports, Brandon TV and ButterflyNation. These are the teams that gather together to make me successful.
