We had the good fortune of connecting with Kelly Maxwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kelly, how does your business help the community?
I am the CEO and Executive Director of Baby’s Bounty, a Nevada based nonprofit. We care deeply about extending dignity and compassion to all families and know for sure that all babies deserve a fair and equal beginning. We serve families living in poverty with our Baby’s Bundle program, statewide Diaper Banks and Diapers for Diplomas. Each program solves for specific needs, all with the mission of providing a good start for every baby. We are helping the community by not only assisting these struggling families with newborn essentials but also improving attendance and graduation rates in higher education.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Serving Baby’s Bounty through leadership is the highest and best use of my time and talents and is the greatest honor of my life. I am motivated each day to seek innovative solutions to community challenges with fidelity to our mission. Although the road to nonprofit work was not a straight line as I had many roles in the for profit sector in both hospitality and technology, the connector is delivering an excellent product, superior customer/client service across all sectors. The lessons are plentiful but the solutions always begin with sound leadership, trusting your team and providing them with the tools that they need to succeed and inspiring others to care about what you care about. Our brand is clear – we are compassion hustlers but the delivery device is diapers.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I heard someone say recently that he had eaten in the finest restaurants, all over the world but that his most memorable meals were served off of a grill, onto a paper plate. He went on to say that it doesn’t mater what’s being served but who is at the table. In Las Vegas, we have access to all of the best entertainment, food and amusements of any place on earth but my favorite experience is a dinner party, with lively conversation, in my own home, with interesting change-makers, who care deeply about the impact that they are having in their community.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

My stepfather is an entrepreneur who started a transportation business in Las Vegas in the 1970s. Without a formal education or a mentor, he was still certain that he would be successful. That success came by way of relentless hard work, resilience, a commitment to excellent customer service, a little luck and quite often 18-hour workdays to ensure his business thrived. His success and also his struggles provided a great roadmap for me.
