Meet ShaKayla Eaddy | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with ShaKayla Eaddy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ShaKayla, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The first business I started which was Young Stylish Lifestyle LLC wasn’t conceived with a thought process behind it, 16 year old me was sitting on the couch and got a random idea to start a business selling t-shirts and the name just came to me immediately after and from that I immediately got started with doing research and making moves to bring my idea to life, learning along the way. It was kind of like the gifts God always gave to me he was now ordering my steps to execute them. All of my companies that followed such as being a wardrobe stylist and creative director, Stylish Life Academy and Kocktails with Kay all were just seeds that God planted in my mind and they aligned with things I loved, things I felt were needed and could solve an issue or were already skills/interests I had.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is I’ve always dreamed further than what I could see. Entrepreneurship is not something that I have seen closely but that didn’t and won’t stop me from becoming the mogul I set out to be since before I was old enough to even know what the word meant. Another thing that sets me apart is I dream big and don’t let fear stop me, just because I accomplished things doesn’t mean I wasn’t scared to do them but I was more scared of what would happen if I didn’t at least try. Present day I am a college educated full time entrepreneur with three businesses and a career as a wardrobe stylist and creative director and I got here by constantly pouring into my intellect, my emotional intelligence, being self sufficient in my success and not allowing myself or others to box me in. This journey has been far from easy but when you want big there’s no other option than to go big or go home. I overcome any challenges I face by asking myself, do I want to give up because something is too hard or do I want to try my best to get to the other side and smile that I made it. Along the way I have learned that you have to be clear on what you want and do what it takes to get it because it is your responsibility.
One thing I want the world to know about me as a CEO, Founder and Entrepreneur is that I will become everything I’ve always wanted to be and I plan to create space and show other people that you can become everything you want to be and you don’t have to ever settle for less than what you want. Know that anything attached to ShaKayla Eaddy is here to provide an amazing experience from beginning to end and is evergrowing.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not from LA nor do I live there but I have travelled there. If I was there and had someone visiting I would take them to Soul Food Shack any time of the day, I would take them to the museum scene and to explore so many other parts that I haven’t had the chance to see.
Being from Detroit this city is so rich in culture. If someone came for a week We could start out with a night out I would take them to get a taste of the nightlife In Downtown Detroit (Love & Tequila, The Godfrey Hotel, Annex etc.) or Birmingham (Madam, The Rose Room, Shift) then after go to Ozale’s Kitchen for some great late night food, I would take them to one of our many Brunch spots such as Central Kitchen, Empire, Ivy’s Kitchen and Kocktails, Jagged Fork, Honest John’s and many other options, I would take them to the DIA for a museum date, we can do some sight seeing downtown. Other restaurants and places we could go to are Big Bo’s, Oaxaca for tacos, Ferndale, Downtown Royal Oak and the list goes on and on
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Over the years I have had mentors such as my mentor in Middle School Juantonia Hill, I had a mentor in college that I interned for named Iva Elliot, I have read many books and watched many motivational interviews and documentaries from moguls I look up as well as my family and loved ones that always supported what I wanted to do/become, but the main person that deserves a shout out for my success is GOD. GOD is the one that gave me the ideas to pursue, he directed me towards the knowledge I needed, he is the one that gave me the courage and confidence to always go after what I want, he is the one that pulled me up and pushed me through even during the times I wanted to give up, he is the one that is making sure everything I ever wanted comes to fruition.
