We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Posey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mark, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
For many years I lived in my studio. I was constantly surrounded by my work, and would work on paintings whenever I felt inspired. Eventually I decided that I needed some distance and it would be healthy to separate my self from my work a little more. I was able to find a studio about 10 minutes away from my apartment and am really happy I made the switch.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My current body of work is a series of paintings of windows and curtains. The timing of COVID was coincidental, but people seem to have a real reaction to them because everyone is stuck indoors looking out their windows.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them Huntington gardens in Pasadena, followed by the Norton Simon museum. We would probably grab some food in old town Pasadena and then head to the Broad. While in downtown I’d give them a tour of where I used to live and them take them to pizzanista and Tony’s Saloon for a night cap.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am without the support of my wife, my parents, anyone who has ever purchased one of my paintings, and everyone who has ever taken a chance on me by showing my art. Words cannot begin to describe how grateful I am for the support.
