Meet Lachia Richards | Content Creator & Visual Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lachia Richards and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lachia, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The habits I feel that have helped me succeed would definitely be three things: my eye for detail, my perfectionist mindset, and my work ethic.
All of these habits were without a doubt instilled in me because of who my parents are, and I am forever grateful for them.
With these three habits I’ve been able to produce amazing content on all three platforms being Instagram, TikTok, and Youtube. I aim to make sure that everything I post is creative, eye-catching, and fun. I also made a posting schedule for Youtube. It holds me accountable to produce content weekly, and I’m able to plan out my entire month so I don’t have to worry about last minute posts. All these things have helped me succeed and it’s gotten me close to reaching 700 followers on Instagram, over 150 subcribers on Youtube in a span of 4 months, and over 500 followers on TikTok.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art would be described as a mixture of abstract and hyper-realism. My art style changed drastically after my 12th Grade art class.
In that class I was forced to step out of my comfort zone which was very “cartoon-style” art and it was definitely hard for me to break out of it. I remember complaining to my art teachers every year saying: “I dont do realism, it’s not for me!” and they’d always encourage me to at least try and finally with time, I began to get better and better.
My art totally sets me apart from others because I always put my own style on every piece I do. I usually paint based off of a real photograph taken of real people, or a real event. My paintings are full of color, and bursts of energy, just like me – I always aim to make my art a reflection of me and my personality.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come where developing my art style is concerned. However, I am especially proud of my most recent painting of Jesus washing the feet of his disciples which I called “Made New”. I put my own twist on it, and with every painting I do, I learn new techniques, skills, and different ways to get better.
Along this journey of discovering my true art style, I’ve learnt that persevering even when its hard is probably the best thing for you in the end. If I had dropped my art classes, or not put in any effort into my art work even when it was rough, then I wouldn’t have been able to discover my full potential and I wouldn’t have been able to produce this story and answer this question to its entirety.
I’d like for the world to know that even though I’m a whole lot of “excitement” (as my mom likes to say), I won’t “tone it down” for anyone because I’ve made some amazing connections with it, and it makes my art beautiful and unique.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, and if it was sunny, I’d plan for us to go to some of my favorite places nearby and out of town.
We’d go to the beach in a small community named Port Hope. It’s a relatively small beach, but the sand and the water feels great and there’s even an ice cream shop right behind it! At the beach we’d go swimming, play some beach volleyball and afterwards we’d probably stop by Dairy Queen for some blizzards because that’s our favorite place to grab a treat.
In the next couple days, I’d probably bring them to the biggest mall that I know of being Yorkdale. All of our favorite stores are in there, such as H&M, UrbanPlanet, and among others. We love to eat, so afterwards we’d probably go out for dinner either at Cheesecake Factory located within the mall for some classy eats, or I’d let her choose where she’d like to go. On another day, I’d try to find a Go-Carting place so we can race – I think that’d be super fun. For the remaining days, I think we’d probably stay in the house and relax while eating some Chinese take out and junk food just for fun.
In my area, some of the most fun places people usually check out would be Yorkdale, CN Tower, roller skating arenas, and other places in Downtown Toronto – that’s really where all the fun is.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shoutout to my parents. Both of my parents are content creators and entrepreneurs and they are always pushing me to show my personality through everything I do.
They know a lot about social media algorithms, and how to promote content. My mother is always looking out for me and teaching me about how to be a better person everyday. She encourages me to be myself, strong, and courageous. My father is all about perfection, and with that, he’s always encouraging me to take my time when I produce content to make sure it reaches its maximum potential. He’s always encouraging me to reach for higher than the stars.
My parents have been my two cheerleaders since I was born and they’ve always been behind me and supported me through everything. They have contributed a huge part to my story, and I owe it all to them and God.
Speaking of God, I’d like to give him my shoutout too. Without him I wouldn’t have been able to develop the courage to start posting consistently on social media and connecting with countless people who have made my life 1000x better.
